NEW PILL MAY CURE ALZHEIMERS, SPARK RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

December 31 2011

Waco, TX – Scientists at Baylor University have made a breakthrough that could eventually lead to a cure for one of the most feared diseases on the planet, Alzheimer’s.alzheimer's

The researchers have isolated a gene in mice that allows for the creation of ‘super memories’, allowing them to not only prevent but also recover from degenerative mental illnesses. While still far from a cure, the research is being cited as an important first time in eventually overcoming the degradation of the human brain.

Already, a new stage of trials have started on the research which will likely lead to human trials, though carries with it the distinct possibility of making test subjects, mostly apes, far more intelligent and eventually capable of taking over the planet.

“If we were to find an inhibitor, a molecule, a drug that will specifically block PKR, we should be able to do the same in humans. And we did,” said Maura Costa-Mattiol of Baylor.

It’s not clear how deep the testing on non-human primates has gone, but it is likely that since it has already reached the human testing stage, that other animals have been experimented on.rise of the planet of the apes

In the hit ‘Planet of the Apes’ film released last summer, similar testing led to an Ape uprising that threatened to consume the world and relegate humanity to a slave race, as depicted in the 1968 Charlton Heston classic.

Other cinematic examples include the 1999 film ‘Deep Blue Sea’ in which scientists created super smart sharks who threaten the world in an effort to cure Alzheimer’s, though that outcome seems a little unlikely.

“This is potentially great news. There is really no more inhuman disease than Alzheimer’s. Our brain is really what makes us human, in the end, and when that is lost it’s really destructive, especially for the family. They lose the person they love well before they are actually gone,” said Scrape TV Science analyst Dr. Howard Poe. “As destructive as that is, however, an Ape uprising would be even more destructive. I doubt very much that they would be able to take over the planet. There just aren’t that many apes and we have a lot of guns, way more than them, but still it would require us eliminating these other species forever and that would be a loss.”planet of the apes statue of liberty

Like in the movies, Gorillas would likely be the military leaders, Chimps the organizers, and Orangutans the intellectuals, until they are wiped out by human bullets.

“That would really be shame, but ultimately if we can get human super memories in exchange for the elimination of the lesser apes, well maybe that will be worth the sacrifice. At the very least, they will live on in our collective memories,” continued Poe. “That is the much better option than the destruction of humanity. That would be the worst possible of all outcomes.”

Thus far, there have been no reports of Ape-related violence.
