STUDY FINDS OVERWEIGHT PEOPLE EAT FEWER MEALS BUT WAY MORE GREASE

December 1 2011

New York, NY – Call it a diseases of the modern age, or just a result of unhealthy living, but whatever you want to call it, obesity is a serious health problem across the United States and, increasingly, across the world.fat man

Because of the growing health issues attached to obesity the study of the phenomenon has rapidly become of significant interest to scientists and while no study has yet found a cause or a cure, new studies have started to peel back the fat layers.

A study conducted by the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Marywood University has found a new, and surprising development, when comparing obese and average weight people. That study concluded that on average obese people ate less than average weight people and those who had had significant weight loss. While nothing conclusive came of the study, and it provided no answers as to why a person can eat less and gain more weight, it is suspected that lack of physical exercise and lot more grease in the meals obese people did eat is likely a significant contributor.

“Most of the research has shown that people who eat more frequently have a lower weight. If you eat more often, it stops you from getting too hungry. If you wait 10 hours after you've last eaten, you end up eating a lot more food. If you sit down and you're really hungry, you also tend to eat more calories,” said lead researcher Jessica Bachman.fat guy

The study did also find that obese people did eat more Big Mac meals and bags of chips than non-obese people, which may contribute to the weight difference.

Brownies and other cake products are also seen as contributing factors to the increasing number of obese people in the United States, which currently sits at about percent of the population.

“This is not a particularly interesting study, to be blunt. I mean everyone has a skinny friend who eats like crazy and never gains a pound. Frankly, everyone already knew this was the case. Skinny people eat more, likely because they have a faster metabolism and do a lot more. This has been pretty much common sense for years,” said Scrape TV Health analyst Rebecca Phelps. “This is a growing problem in this field. No one has any real answers and so they start to investigate things that most people already knew and that just expends effort that could be better used in other areas.”potato chips

Most dietary scientists have recommended eating better food and exercising more often, which usually does the trick.

“This type of indulgence is exactly the type of fat that needs to be trimmed off research in this field. If we can eliminate redundant research and things that most people already know we might be able to work towards a real solution,” continued Phelps. “Otherwise people are just sitting around gaining more and more weight wile researchers study meaningless subjects, and that doesn’t really help anything at all.”

The study did result in new, fancy, reinforced chairs for the school.
