STUDY FINDS THAT COKE AND PEPSI MAY CAUSE DELICIOUS FORM OF CANCER

February 19 2011

Washington, D.C. – There is undoubtedly no more frightening force in the world than one dread disease, one word that evokes a sort of primordial fear in even the bravest amongst us, an end result that, like it or not, will affect everyone. That cancer
disease is of course cancer, a killer more terrifying than every terrorist, killer shark, and socialist put together, a disease that has no concerns about race or borders, that doesn’t concern itself with the rich and the poor. All cancer does is kill.

Cancer is of course the ultimate boogeyman, the monster that really does lurk under all our beds just waiting to strike. While we have certainly made advances in fighting the disease and in some cases totally eradicated its power, the hard reality is that we will all lose someone to the disease at some point. However, the battle does go on and alongside new treatments new insights as to the causes behind cancer have started to reverse the trend, ever so slightly, allowing us to get one over the dread disease. Now a new risk has emerged in the form of one of the most popular drinks in the world after researchers found carcinogenic qualities to the colouring dye used in dark colas, notably Coke and Pepsi, which could create a deadly yet delicious form of cancer.coke fridge

“The caramel colouring used in Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and other foods is contaminated with two cancer-causing chemicals and should be banned. In contrast to the caramel one might make at home by melting sugar in a saucepan, the artificial brown colouring in colas and some other products is made by reacting sugars with ammonia and sulphites under high pressure and temperatures,” A spokesperson for the Center for Science in the Public Interest told The Daily Mail. “Chemical reactions result in the formation of two substances known as 2-MI and 4-MI which in government-conducted studies caused lung, liver, or thyroid cancer or leukaemia in laboratory mice or rats.”

Coke is one of the most prominent products to use the chemicals, Pepsi is not so prominent.coke africa

“If this is true it really is a big deal. Both of these drinks, principally Coke, is drunk all over the world from New York City to Kinshasa and if it does indeed pose this major risk of disease than it really needs to be dealt with. It does no one any good to start causing cancer in people, particularly the companies which rely on people being alive to stay in business,” said Scrape TV Business analyst Ken Green. “Coke of course is the one with the most to lose, literally. I mean there are certainly people who drink Pepsi though the vast majority of them only have it when they want Coke at a restaurant. That is such an antiquated system, you should be able to get whatever drink you want at a restaurant.”

Pepsi holds about thirty percent of the soda fountain market in the United States.coke the beatles

“The issue here is really for Coke. It is, after all, the catch all term for dark sodas and if those drinks are associated with giving cancer, even this delicious form of cancer, it is Coke that will received the bulk of the criticism because of their ubiquity. Plus they will have given cancer to more people,” continued Green. “I’d imagine that this will go nowhere. I mean most people know that soft drinks are bad for you and cancer is just one more of those many risks. I think that the vast majority of people would stick with drinking Coke even if it does cause cancer. Pepsi not so much, well maybe with the idiots.”

Coke had no comment on the complaint. We didn’t bother asking Pepsi.
