PALIN PULLS CLOSER TO OBAMA IN POPULARITY POLL THAT MEANS NOTHING

Washington, D.C. – There is little doubt that the face of modern American politics has undergone a dramatic change in the last few years. Only a few years ago no one outside their families had heard names such as Barack Obama and Sarah Palin but 
now those two figures are the most prominent faces of their respective movements. Traditionally things don’t happen like this in politics, traditionally people have strong family histories in the political realm or a great deal of experience, things neither Palin or Obama could even pretend to have.
Nonetheless, they have been the faces of politics for the last year and will likely continue for a long time to come. They are of course in much different positions; one is a former governor hawking a book, the other is most powerful human being on the planet but they both hold a position as the face of their political spectrums. Now a new poll by Gallup has shown that a once cavernous popularity gap between the two has shrunk to a single point as Palin makes her way across the country shaking hands while Obama deals with two wars, a troubled economy, and stalled healthcare legislation. The poll, it’s believed, means next to nothing.
“Palin has shown not just an incredible durability she has gotten more popular as the year has progressed. That is something we did not expect and is the kind of 
popularity that the President can only dream of enjoying. We expect that Palin will soon surpass the President and win in the popularity contest,” said a spokesperson for Gallup. “We do want people to understand that we are using two different sets of metrics here. With Obama we are asking whether or not people approve of the job he is doing, with Palin it’s simply and issue of likeability. It’s very difficult to compare the two directly because only one person can be President and Palin doesn’t have a job, nonetheless we feel the data shows a remarkable turnaround from this point last year.”
Gallup officials did point out that the popularity is largely irrelevant because the election is long since over and cannot be overturned as a result of the poll.
“It’s a great moral victory for Palin who was more or less written off at this point last year. She has a best-selling book, a great deal of love from her chosen party, and just about all the attention one can handle. Obama on the other hand has had a rough go of it recently. Aside from dealing with all the issues confronting him and the country he has to get up early, go to bed at a reasonable time, and show up for work even when he doesn’t feel like it,” said Scrape TV Political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “Palin may have lost the election but she’s definitely come out on the right end of things. She can work when she wants, people love her, and she has no real responsibility and now she’s just as popular.”
It’s not clear what her popularity might be like if she and John McCain had in fact won the election, but it’s likely that she would have a lot more people angry with her.
“Palin knows how to do this thing. Keep in mind that she was a beauty queen so being popular is something she is used to and something she knows how to navigate very well. This is her territory, for Obama being popular is something fairly new so it makes sense that he’s a little behind the ball,” continued Kinsey. “Of course this is largely for naught because polling numbers don’t really do anything, they simply reflect the way people are thinking. Maybe for the future of the Republican party the best thing to do would be to put Gallup in charge of the election process.”
Palin’s popularity is also reportedly close to Britney Spears who is in the midst of a comeback.
