ARIZONA GOVERNOR TRIES TO BURY HEADLESS BODIES ALONG BORDER

September 6 2010

Phoenix, AZ – it is perhaps one of the great ironies of the American experience that immigration has been so reviled throughout history. While tempers flare in Arizona and other border states about the supposed flood of illegal immigration from Mexico, mayflower
it is largely forgotten that the history of the country is literally riddled with immigration. Italian and Irish immigrants in the 18th century were pariahs, and the history of African Americans is more than well documented but it is these people, as well as all other Europeans, that have made America into the great nation it has become. The country is a nation of immigrants.

While history certainly should not impact every decision in the modern day, the largely outdated immigration laws throughout the country have created a situation that inspires violence and other forms of law breaking. Few would argue, even the most ardent critics, that immigrants from Mexico are on the whole travelling to the United States in order to commit crime. The people crossing the border are, for the most part, like the Italian and Irish and Dutch and even English immigrants of the past, seeking a better life in a new country. However, jan brewer
such realities rarely play well in the political realm, something Governor Jan Brewer has realize all too well as she battle for re-election. Now her vehement opposition has landed her in hot water and forced her to bury the headless bodies she apparently found months ago along the border.

“Our law enforcement agencies have found bodies in the desert, either buried or just lying out there, that have been beheaded,” Brewer told Fox News back in July, something she recanted on Saturday. “That was an error, if I said that. I misspoke, but you know, let me be clear, I am concerned about the border region because it continues to be reported in Mexico that there's a lot of violence going on and we don't want that going into Arizona. I was referring to cartel-related violence in Mexico and other violence near the border.”

Brewer received widespread criticism for the comments from both sides of the political spectrum, particularly as no bodies were uncovered.mexico us border

“It is a long tradition in politics to use fear to garner votes. This is, frankly, the principle reason the United States was founded in the first place. The attempt to
manipulate the people of the United Kingdom to garner power ended up with the pilgrims immigrating to the United States. Fear as a weapon is tried and true, it just needs to be done with more aplomb,” said Scrape TV Political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “This was a case where the truth was so easily uncovered that the lie simply fell apart. Brewer has done well in life, I mean Governor of any state is a mean feat, but this was a major slip up and perhaps shows that being successful in state politics requires a little less talent then being successful in the federal game.”

After the comments investigations turned up absolutely no bodies, headless or otherwise, along the border.mexico immigrants

“A more deft politician would have told a stronger lie, stated perhaps that the bodies were being dropped on the opposite side of the border or something that was at least more difficult to uncover. A really smart politician would have made sure there were bodies there, but she didn’t want to go that far apparently,” continued Kinsey. “I guess in some ways that makes her a little more honest, but the truth in politics is that a lie is only a lie when you get caught, and even then it’s somebody else’s fault. That is something Brewer hasn’t learned which is why she’ll probably lose the election.”

The lack of bodies has according to most observers given underdog challenger  Terry Goddard the momentum in the upcoming election.
