HELEN THOMAS DEPORTING JEWS IN RETIREMENT

Washington, D.C. – For the majority of people White House briefings are about as a boring event as can happen. In today’s 24 hour news cycle the relevance of orchestrated and groomed dictums have started to lose relevancy. There was a time 
however when such briefings and the power of newspapers were the news, not just a part of the cycle. For those that worked in the heyday of that process, through the sixties and seventies, the power of the Presidency and power of the media was very clear no matter how much both have eroded in the subsequent years.
There is one person who has seen that heyday and also the current decline, spending fifty years as a news correspondent and covering much of the most important years of the most influential country in the world. Helen Thomas has made many firsts in her time covering the Washington beat, from interviewing Castro to travelling to China with Nixon to covering the election of the first black President, Thomas has been at the epicentre of American history. With her retirement amidst controversy, a piece of American history also set sail in that long good night that will likely never be the same again. No Thomas who created so much turmoil with her comments about Jews in Israel has turned her wit and charm and fiery personality towards helping that community ease into retirement.
“She’s really sorry about the things she said and it’s true that her retirement was a result, partly, of that but this whole experience has really changed her. She now wants to make amends with the Jewish community, the people she offended, and at the same time help herself,” said a Washington insider. “She has been working for a very long time so she needs to understand retirement herself and she believes that by helping guide others through the process she will be able to ease into it herself. She will also be able to heal the wounds of that community she offended so deeply.”
Thus far no Jews have moved back to Europe as a result of her comments meaning that plenty will be around to retire.
“You look at Thomas and her career began with Kennedy and ended with his spiritual successor Obama and you really have to be in awe of everything she has seen and 
everything she has accomplished. True, this hasn’t been the cleanest of breaks and I’m sure she would have hoped that her retirement would have gone a little more gracefully, but nonetheless she has had remarkable career and that can’t be ignored,” said Scrape TV Media analyst Sarah Piper. “Yeah she got a little crazy at the end but that’s to be expected from a nearly ninety-year old woman. People want to connect all kinds of things, particularly the fact that she is Arab, but that really does her and her legacy a disservice. I mean it’s not like she was putting anyone on the boat herself, she’s just gone a little loopy.”
Thomas’ comments drew widespread criticism from all sides of the political spectrum, even if many of them were thinking it themselves.
“Look, old people do funny things. The other day my Nonna called me because she couldn’t find her glasses and they turned out to be in the refrigerator. That’s what old people do; they lose their glasses and they tell Jews to get out. It’s all a part of aging,” continued Piper. “It is great though that she has taken on this task of helping people retire. This should help heal some wounds and hopefully help everyone involved fell better about their stage in life. Hopefully she can convince a handful of them to move back home, wherever that might be.”
Thomas is also apparently planning a trip to Poland sometime in the fall.
