JOE BIDEN SAYS HIS GAY MARRIAGE IS INEVITABLE
December 24 2010
Washington, D.C. – There was a time in human history when homosexuality was open and widely accepted, where there was no division between gay people and straight people. That was a long time ago though and although we have advanced in

many ways through the thousands of years since the heydays of sexual acceptance, this one area has become a source of great debate and social upheaval. In recent years attitudes through much of the country have certainly changed but still people of certain sexual orientations are often trapped by the confines and prejudices of the society in which they live.
As one of the last remaining acceptable biases left in the world, Homophobia has become an increasingly vociferous debate in the United States and throughout the world. As a global leader in social standards, the argument in the United States has very quickly become the angriest and most energetic of all issues in the country. Now one of the most powerful voices in the country has finally stepped forward with his opinion in a new argument that may forever change the course of the issue throughout the world. Vice President Joe Biden, never one to keep his mouth shut, has stated that he feels gay marriage is inevitable, freeing him and others to pursue their true loves.
“I think the country's evolving, and I think there's an inevitability for a national consensus on gay marriage that is my view but this is the President’s policy and it is evolving. I think the country is evolving,” Biden told George Stephanopoulos. “I remember the first time he met with the Joint Chiefs I was with him met and said gentlemen I want you to prepare now. I want to end Don’t Ask Don’t Tell and so we prepared the ground so that it is so widely accepted as it is ah today as it is by the military and I think the same thing is happening across the country in regards to marriage.”
President Obama has publicly supported Civil Unions but not marriage.
“There are a number of other advanced countries that have already legalized gay marriage and the swell towards that opinion, towards full legalization, seems to be
mounting in the United States. While it is likely to take a long time, perhaps a very long time, it seems inevitable that the country will eventually allow gay marriage across the board with no restrictions and no debate,” said Scrape TV Sexual Identity analyst Maria Kant. “Unfortunately in the mean time a lot of people will have to continue to suffer. It’s really a shame that something as basic and revered as marriage is denied to certain people simply because of who they choose to love but that is the reality for many people around the world, millions, and even though it may eventually change, for many it will simply never happen.”
Five states currently allow gay marriage. None are Biden’s home state of Delaware.
“The reality of this issue for many people is that they will never see marriage. The debate rages for political and supposed social and moral issues, but at the centre are a group of people whose love can’t be proclaimed in the accepted way because of whom it is they love. For many that will never change,” continued Kant. “In many ways these people have lived and will continue to live unfulfilled lives no matter how successful they are. Businessmen, movie stars, and even politicians will had this one thing taken away from them, this one part of their life has been rendered incomplete and that may always be the case.”
Biden is 68 and has been married, to a woman, since 1977.
