JOHN BOEHNER IN TEARS AFTER BURNING TONGUE ON HOT SOUP
February 2 2011
Washington, D.C. – There has been for as long as mankind has been around a defining line between men and women, a separation between the sexes, something that will most likely exist for as long as human beings are around. In recent years
much has been done to erase that line, to better equalize the sexes, but still many differences exist not just in the physical or mental realm but also in the expectations of society.
Things such as suffrage and women’s lib have certainly brought women to a closer footing with men, but still disparities exist and many of those things are unlikely to change even in more advanced cultures. One major gap between the sexes has been the ability to show emotions in public, something which in many ways works in the opposite direction. ‘Manliness’, still a potent idea in the modern world, simply does not allow for such displays without ridicule. While the furthering of women’s rights has certainly done great things for women, for men it has meant few changes. However that is steadily changing as well with certain traditionally feminine attributes now being taken on by men. Case-in-point is the newest Speaker of the House John Boehner whose public outbursts of tears have caused many to ridicule the Republican representative. Boehner though is undaunted, defending his right to cry and doing so over and over again, including at a recent lunch when a hot bowl of soup seared the roof of his mouth.
“It wasn’t all that odd seeing him there. This is D.C. and you see a lot of politicians around though usually they are lower level people. I never saw Nancy Pelosi hanging around the diner before but I seriously doubts she eats normal human food anyway,” said an employee at ‘D.C. Eats’ who preferred to remain anonymous. “We treated like every other customer, at least we did until he had his soup. Thene things went a little weird.”
It has long been rumoured that former House Speaker Pelosi would routinely dine on tin cans and drywall but that has never been confirmed.
“He ordered cream of mushroom originally but sent it back after changing his mind to
tomato. He had a sandwich as well, I believe it was a BLT but it was the soup that was the big deal. He just started to gulp it down but that batch had just been made and was very hot which the server warned him about, but he did it anyway and burned his mouth,” continued the employee. “He then just started to tear up and then broke down completely, sobbing at the table and making a fuss for all the other diners. He didn’t yell or scream or anything but he was sobbing like crazy. We came up with tissues and glasses of water and eventually he stopped, but it was a little bit awkward to say the least.”
Boehner has routinely worn his emotions on his sleeve throughout his tenure in the House.
I personally don’t believe there is anything wrong with men crying and nothing at all wrong with a public official being an emotional guy, but sometimes it does go a little too far and very occasionally it does exactly that with Boehner,” said Scrape TV Political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “I think everyone knows what it’s like to burn ones mouth and it certainly hurts but I can honestly say that I’ve never broken down in tears when it happened, especially not in public. I guess that’s just the way Boehner is and I guess that’s fine. Hopefully he blows on his soup the next time.”
Boehner will reportedly fully recover.
