MICHAEL STEELE RESTING IN VEGAS AFTER WORST WEEK EVER

April 3 2010

Washington, D.C. – Controversy and politics have always been intimately intertwined and that is unlikely to ever change. Though much of the excess that helped to topple the great empires of the past has all but been eroded away, those at the top of the bondage
power pile still indulge some of the worst aspects of human behaviour. Of course in the modern world those excesses are punished either through loss of support or in rare cases imprisonment. Still, abuses occur and as long as politicians exists, so too will their excesses.

A lesson in excess is something supporters of the Republican Party in the United States have become all too familiar with in the last week. With the revelations that the party financed a $2000 at a bondage nightclub, as well as a number of mistakes and gaffes including one that directed supporters to contact a phone-sex line, the chairman of the party has had his worst week yet since taking the top spot. With his job in jeopardy and his party, already beset with swaying political momentum, in the midst of a very embarrassing scandal, Michael Steele has decided to get away from all his troubles with a long weekend trip to Sin City.michael steele

“I can confirm that the chairman is out of the city and getting away from things. It has been a tough week for all of us and he felt it best to just get away from the situation for a little while and come back fresh after the weekend. He did take a trip to Las Vegas, which is his favourite destination, and will be back Sunday night,” said a spokesperson for the RNC. “As for how it was paid for, which many people have been asking, we have no official comment on that. The personal finances of our employees are not meant for public dissemination and that policy will not be changed even in the current political atmosphere.”

Steele apparently went to Vegas by himself but will not be lonely for long.

“This has been a hard time for the party. It’s like they are going through some serious las vegas gambling
growing pains and we don’t know here they will land. They had all this energy behind the party for so long and then the health care bill passed and all of a sudden that energy dissipated. What looked like a sure thing in November is now looking a little shaky,” said Scrape TV Political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “As the top guy Steele has quite correctly been garnering a lot of the criticism levelled at the party and it’s totally reasonable that his job is in jeopardy so getting away for a little while could be just what the doctor ordered. Apparently he’s a very much a card shark and he really likes the ladies so it’s completely understandable that he would gravitate towards Vegas to just get away from things for a little while. You don't want him to get too tied down.”

Steele has reportedly been seen at a number of casinos throughout the city.michael steele

“This could also help to shake up the image of the typical conservative. The perception by most people is that they are stuffy and conservative but if people know that they can just let loose in a city like Vegas it might allow them to better associate with the party and that could be a good thing come November,” continued Kinsey. “The most important thing however is that Steele comes back rested and ready to fight. By spending a weekend away he should be able to come back refreshed and ready to go many more rounds with the Democrats and the press.”

RNC Treasurer Randall Pullen is reportedly also taking the long weekend to relax by visiting a number of college bars throughout D.C. and Maryland.
