OBAMA’S GROWING UNPOPULARITY IN THE MUSLIM WORLD ABOUT THE SAME AS EVERYWHERE ELSE

Washington, D.C. – it could be argued that the expectations for Barack Obama were a little out of control. True, much of that expectation had been created by the man himself. It was in fact the basis of platform upon which he was elected, but when push
came to shove and the realities of actually being President started to sink in, it was clear that Obama was in fact an ordinary man rather than the almost supernatural being the public had made him into.
The troubles facing Obama when coming into office were no doubt steep, but that of course is the burden of being President. No one would argue that the troubles facing O were any less profound than those facing Truman or Johnson for example. The reality is that trouble is simply a part of doing the job. However for Obama the problem has been the discrepancy between the promise and the results which has caused a massive erosion of support across the United States. Of course the President of the United States is also a global figure and his support, or lack of support, can be just as profound throughout the world. In particular Obama’s support has been eroding throughout the Muslim world in much the same way as it has at home making re-election all that more challenging.
“There have been profound shifts in the perception of the President even from last 
year to this year. Most significantly and perhaps most disturbingly is the increase in the negative view of him and his policies which has grown much more dramatically than the decline in the positive impressions,” said a Presidential insider. “Many more people are viewing the President in a negative light which is a very bad thing when you are going to be running for re-election. There are many reasons for this increase in active dislike of the President, some of them valid, that is going to make getting the votes very tough. That is very apparent in the Muslim world.”
Egypt, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Lebanon and Jordan are the countries where Obama has seen the largest declines.
“These are certainly very significant numbers and the biggest problem isn’t so much 
how low they are, it’s the fact that they have dropped so steeply. That indicates that much of the early support for Obama may have been the result of a bubble which has now burst. That would lead one to believe that the support for Obama was based on superficial interests rather than ability to do the job,” said Scrape TV Political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “The problems in the U.S. are profound enough and could help him to lose his job but it is in the Muslim world where the real problems could occur. Obama made it a priority to engage Muslims and he hasn’t done that. In fact he may very well have damaged the existing relationship and possibly put the country at risk.”
Obama still enjoys a largely favourable public image in Indonesia, the world’s largest predominantly Islamic country.
“When it comes election time there are going to be a lot of hard questions and a lot of hard decisions to be made. Obviously people in the Muslim world aren’t going to actually be able to vote, but we all know how much the American people value their opinion and erosion there could hurt the Democrats,” continued Kinsey. “The people of America are going to vote with what makes the Muslim world happy and if Obama isn’t doing that the votes are going to go against him. That is something he really needs to concentrate on or risk being a lame duck President.”
Data is not available for Muslims living in the U.S. as most of them pretend to be Christian.
