BACHMANN INSISTS THAT IRAN IS ONLY MINUTES AWAY FROM HAVING NUCLEAR WEAPONS

December 18 2011

Washington, D.C. – For a little while, Michele Bachmann had the people’s ear. She was the front runner, for a brief time, in the Republican field. Few people felt honestly that Bachmann would stay the favourite for long, but that brief run at the top gave her a lot of prominence, and even more confidence, allowing her to stay in the race far longer than anyone expected.michele bachmann president

In fact, Bachmann has remained fully in the mix, even continuing in the debates with viable candidates, one of whom may become President. On Thursday, Bachmann engaged in a heated debate with fellow candidate Ron Paul, insisting that Iran was only a few months away from developing a nuclear weapon, citing reports, incorrectly, from the IAEA as evidence.

Bachmann was quickly knocked down by Paul on her assessment of the situation in Iran, but that has not dissuaded her insistence that Iran remains a prominent threat and that they could be just minutes away from acquiring nuclear weapons, which they will then use to destroy American freedom and kill all the children of the world.

"The problem would be the greatest under reaction in world history if we have an avowed madman who uses that nuclear weapon to wipe nations off the face of the Earth. And we have an IAEA report, that just recently came out, that said, literally, that Iran is within just months of being able to obtain that weapon,” said Bachmann at the debate.michele bachmann president

“Michele made it very clear in the debate that she stands with a freedom and against Iran. Candidate Paul has continued to appease Iran over and over again and it is clear that if he were to become President, he would do the same. He would let Iran have nuclear weapons and allow them to use them against our allies and the United States,” said a spokesperson for Bachmann. “She has not read the IAEA report herself, but she has had the gist of it read to her and she understands it much better than people think. She is very good at getting conclusions from only small pieces of information.”

Paul was also slightly incorrect in his reading of the report, but it is believed that he has read those reports himself.

It’s not clear why Bachmann refused to read the report herself, but has likened the language in reports to sexism previously.

“Michele Bachman simply does not want her country to be overrun by nuclear weapons and other people interested in stealing our freedoms. She loves this country and it is not her fault that other people do not,” continued the spokesperson. “As President, she would protect those freedoms that we have all fought so hard to gain and would prevent countries like Iran from making nuclear weapons and using them against our freedoms, unlike other people who will not be named but who she has spoken to in the last few days.”

Iran has never actively stated that they are looking to destroy American freedom by developing nuclear weapons, but it is implied.nuked

“Michele Bachman is the only candidate who actually sees this issue for what it is. She is a realist and she will not appease those people who seek t destroy our freedoms. She believes in doing what is best for America, not best for Iran,” continued the spokesperson. “And as President, she will continue with that philosophy because she loves freedom and loves the Unite States of America.”

Bachmann did not read the comments made by her spokesperson, but will likely have it summarized.
