CHRISTINE O’DONNELL’S BOOK TOPS DELAWARE BEST-SELLER LIST
August 31 2011
Dover, DE – When she first popped onto the national scene last year it seemed that Christine O’Donnell was going to be the next Sarah Palin. She handily replaced Palin in the national discussion, a new face and a new voice for the Republican Party, one that could lead them into the next election.
That didn’t happen. For many of the same reasons that everyone vanishes from the mainstream, O’Donnell started to fade away. It wasn’t her controversial opinions, or her dabbling in witchcraft, or any other myriad of reasons that saw her slide away in public opinion, it was just the vagaries of the fickle nature of the public. For a time she had it, and now it’s gone.
At least nationally. No matter how much O’Donnell has slid away from the national picture she still has a strong base of support in her home state of Delaware which has not only made her a local hero, but also a successful author, allowing her to top the Delaware best-seller list by selling more 1500 books.
“We are thrilled with the book’s reception in Delaware. It has been a success from the start and it continues to be. There are lots of things to be happy about of late, but this support from her people has been tremendous,” said a spokesperson for O’Donnell. “We are thrilled that papers throughout the state have been so supportive and we hope that that will continue. We are thrilled to be atop the best-seller list again.”
Nationally O’Donnell’s book, ‘Trouble Maker’, has sold 2200 copies in the first week, 1500 in her home state.
“The performance of the book has been much better than we could have expected in Delaware. We aren’t as excited about the national numbers, honestly, but this is only the start. As we have always said, the revolution will begin in Delaware. Once this list goes national other people will pay attention,” continued the spokesperson. “It hasn’t just been a best-seller, it has been one of the best-selling books in Delaware’s history and that means a lot. We hope that people throughout the state will continue to show their support going forward.”
Jim Walters’ book ‘Gelding Pigs for Fun and Profit’ came a close second with 1300 units sold. That book is expected to drop off significantly in the second week.
“One could look at 700 copies sold and be defeated by those numbers. There are hundreds of millions of potential readers out there and if you can only reach 700 across the country it doesn’t really look good for a Presidential run but she can claim this triumph in Delaware and that isn’t meaningless. It means she has a great deal of support from home, and that doesn’t mean nothing,” said Scrape TV Political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “It’s entirely possible that she could use that momentum to run for President of Delaware or some other position in the state. I mean they would have to change the laws and the constitution of the state, but for someone as popular as O’Donnell that really shouldn’t be a problem. I guess they’ll wait to see second week sales before making that decision.”
O’Donnell is apparently already working on a follow-up book.
