EVEN FAMILY MEMBERS LOSING INTEREST IN INTERVIEWING MICHELE BACHMANN
November 15 2011
Washington, D.C. – For a short period of time Michele Bachmann was at the top of everyone’s list when it came to Republican candidates. That was inevitably going to slip away, just because it always does, but knowing that hasn’t made it any easier for Team Bachmann when faced with the reality of growing indifference from the public.
There is no better evidence of that than in a meltdown Bachmann and her staff apparently had after last Saturday’s debate in which the Minnesota Congresswoman accused CBS of bias for preferring to interview someone else. According to sources, Bachmann was furious that the talk show decided to put her off in favour of another, more popular candidate, and came out swinging.
However, that dismissal is not the end for Bachmann. According to those same insiders, Bachmann has also been receiving the cold shoulder from many people in her own family – her children and husband included – echoing exactly the same thing that is happening to her across the country.
“Michele and her team are not at all happy with where things are. They worked really hard to get some momentum behind them, got that momentum, and it has now pretty much evaporated and that has been a very hard adjustment,” said the insider said. “The CBS thing is just kind of the tipping point. This has been happening more and more recently, though no one has been so upfront about it, and it is getting really frustrating for everyone.”
Specifically, the email said “Okay let’s keep it loose since she’s not going to get many questions and she’s nearly off the charts in the hopes that we can get someone else.”
Bachmann is currently sitting with 4% in polling, a number that does not seem to be improving.
“It’s really affecting everything and she is feeling it all around. It was so exciting just a couple of months ago, everyone was high, but now they are just as low as possible. Michele herself is particularly down, especially since she hasn’t really been talking to her family since the slide started,” continued the insider. “They just don’t really want to talk to her anymore. They’ve tried but she is always in a bad mood and it is driving them nuts. I’m sure things will get better there, but right now things are pretty rough.”
Bachmann is ahead of a few other candidates, including John Huntsman who apparently still has the love and affection of his family.
“Michele is really in a bad place, the whole thing is really going downhill and they realize it. She has considered conceding a few times, the race, not the family, but she isn’t even sure if that would get any coverage at this stage,” continued the insider. “She just wants to get a little more focus, that would really make her feel better about things, and then she can move on, with her political career at least. The family thing, well that will work out or it won’t.”
Bachmann has been married since 1978 and have five kids, only one of whom is speaking to her.
