GINGRICH SAYS VIRGINIA BALLOT FAILURE EXACTLY LIKE PEARL HARBOR ATTACK THAT KILLED THOUSANDS

Richmond, VA – There have been many defining moments in the history of the United States, single events that changed the course of history for the nation and forever altered the way the American people think of themselves. The start of the assassination of President’s Lincoln and Kennedy for example, the 9/11 attack was another, but few events stand on the same level as the strike on Pearl Harbor.
That was the first real shocking event that catalyzed the nation. It wasn’t just the event, it is what happened after the attack, plunging the nation into war. The attack itself, though, was unparalleled in its time. Nothing like that had ever happened before and, until 9/11, it hadn’t happened again. Now though it appears to have occurred again with a sneak attack on Newt Gingrich and his aspirations to become President.
At issue is the failure by Gingrich, as well as other candidates such as Mitt Romney, to qualify for the Virginia primary as the result of a technicality. While all those on the outside looking in have criticized the process, it is Gingrich who apparently feels the most stunned, very much like all those soldiers who lost their lives on that fateful day in 1941, which coincidentally also happened to be in December.
“Newt and I agreed that the analogy is December 1941. We have experienced an unexpected set-back, but we will re-group and re-focus with increased determination, commitment and positive action. Throughout the next months there will be ups and downs; there will be successes and failures; there will be easy victories and difficult days - but in the end we will stand victorious,” said Gingrich campaign director Michael Krull.
More than 2000 people were killed and more than a 1000 were wounded in the attack on Pearl Harbor. Thus far, there have been no fatalities in the Virginia primary.
“This is a major blow to the Gingrich campaign, there is no doubt about that. It’s embarrassing and degrading to be off the ballot in an important state and it was a surprise, so in those ways it really is a lot like Pearl Harbor. It’s different in that it wasn’t a military strike that killed thousands of young men and women, but still a surprise, and not the good kind,” said Scrape TV Political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “A birthday is a good surprise, or new lingerie your wife picked up, but not this kind of sneak attack. This is not a good surprise.”
The major candidates are exploring legal options to get back on the ballot.
The issue appears to be that they did not file their list of signatures on time, despite rumours that they had plenty of advanced warning.
“Hopefully this kerfuffle does not lead to a conflagration like the Second World War. That would really not be a good thing. Tens of millions of people died in that war and having that happen again, and over a ballot issue, would really suck,” continued Kinsey. “Of course the worst thing here is that the attack was conducted by Americans. It would almost be easier to understand if it was done by foreigners but this was an attack on an American by Americans, and that makes it much more tragic, well except for all the dead people of course.”
Gingrich is apparently so confident he will be victorious, he is already planning a monument to his success at getting back on the Virginia ballot.
