HARRY REID SAYS JOBS AS MILLIONAIRES SIMPLY DON’T EXIST ANYMORE
December 13 2011
Washington, D.C. – In the best of economic times finding a good job is hard to do. Often the jobs that pay the best are the ones that are least satisfying, and those that have real personal value simply don’t do enough to support ones family. Jobs are lousy and work sucks. It’s been that way from the start and likely will be until the end. And when the economy is bad, the situation is even worse.
That is the reality for many people in the United States today. Unfortunately, for many the problem is doubled, having bad jobs that pay very little. That, in turn, is causing a lot of grief for the President and everyone else who is supposed to be working to restore economic fluidity. Despite promises though, jobs don’t seem to be coming, and those that do simply aren’t the type that people want to, or can afford to, work.
Despite public optimism that that will eventually turn around, many are starting to make it clear that real growth, real job success, is still a while away and that for the foreseeable future the types of jobs people are going to have to work are simply not going to be that good. And forget about the millionaire jobs, at least according to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who made it clear that those jobs simply aren’t there for the taking anymore.
"Many of our job creators are like unicorns, they're impossible to find and don't exist. That’s because only a tiny fraction of people making more than a million dollars, probably less than one percent, are actually small business owners and only a tiny fraction of that tiny fraction is a traditional job creator,” said Reid.
While not saying so definitively, Reid apparently has very little faith in the Unicorn ranching industry which some believe could be a multi-million dollar industry.
Reid later clarified his statement, saying that while applications for jobs as millionaires has dramatically increased, there simply are no positions available. Reid himself is on the millionaire hiring board.
“To hear a major politician like Reid say that, well it’s a little disturbing. Not just for the people looking for these jobs but also for the politicians who are making a lot of promises. I’m sure the Obama administration doesn’t like airing this type of information out there in public, the hope of landing one of those millionaire jobs is really what sustains people,” said Scrape TV Economic analyst Michael Santino. “Without that hope, people will really start to walk away from Obama. People want to be millionaires, really want it, and they know those jobs are few and far between but the hope sustains them. Someone has to get those jobs after all.”
Ten-thousandaire jobs are still relatively common across the country.
“If nothing else, Millionaire jobs were held up as a goal, a promise of sorts of the American Dream. Most people would never have achieved it even in boom times but they could dream, and still be happy with their cars and house and everything else they had,” continued Santino. “Now people don’t have those things and that leaves them with just the dream, a dream that has now been shattered and that will not play well politically. It’s true, but people don’t want to hear that generally.”
Money for Unicorn farming had been part of the TARP package but was removed at the last minute.
