HENRY KISSINGER ORDERS GROUND INVASION OF LIBYA

April 23 2011

Washington, D.C. – There are few statesmen in history that have the type of respect and legendary status as Henry Kissinger. Even working under the man who is easily the most shamed of U.S. Presidents, Kissinger was able to keep his golden status henry kissinger young
and, despite the occasional controversial view, has sidled quite gracefully into history, retaining his reputation through the years. While some would debate whether or not his reputation is simply that, there is little argument that his accomplishments as Secretary of State were deeply influential and important.

Even now at nearly 90 years old, Kissinger is still amongst the most respected of political entities on the Beltway, becoming an advisor for multiple Presidents and other major policymakers. That influence has allowed Kissinger to retain a great deal of his power in Washington, albeit largely symbolic, even now more than thirty years after he left office, allowing him to continue to influence foreign and domestic policy. Now The elder statesmen has weighed in on one of the more pressing international issues affecting the world today, the ongoing miasma that has developed in Libya. While policy makers in Washington have dithered in their response to the crisis, Kissinger in his own imitable way has taken decisive action and ordered U.S. troops into the country.

“It has become very clear to Secretary Kissinger that this is an area that needs some type of action, that needs very firm and decisive action. It has become clear that in order to protect the best interests of the people of Libya and of the United States that there is only one decision to make, and that is ground troops,” said a spokesperson for Kissinger. “That has prompted him to order U.S. troops into the us soldiers
country, effective immediately. He wants to ensure that there are American boys on the ground directing the rebel forces and taking out the Gaddafi government. He feels there is no other way to protect the interests of everyone involved.”

Kissinger’s order would require the support of Congress, the President, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff before troops are actually moved to Libya.

“It has become very clear in recent weeks that the situation in Libya has not improved and it doesn’t appear likely that it will improve without a little more active interference from foreign forces. The west called for the ouster of Gaddafi and he doesn’t seem to want to leave, and that makes them look weak,” said Scrape TV International Conflict analyst Mario Martinez. “Gaddafi needs to go, for the people of Libya and for the west, but it doesn’t seem to be happening by itself. It may be that arming the rebels and putting some kind of limited force in the country is the only option open to them at this point, especially as the rebels continue to degrade in their abilities to do much of anything.”

Despite a no-fly zone and repeated attacks on government forces, the rebels have retreated from most of their strongholds.henry kissinger old

“Obviously something needs to be done and Obama has made it clear that U.S. soldiers will not be used, presumably because he doesn’t want to invade a sovereign nation and get caught up in another war. Ultimately though the longer it takes for something to happen, the more difficult it’s going to be to have success,” continued Martinez. “That is presumably why Kissinger has order this invasion. It’s clear that Obama is not going to do it and so someone had to take action. Of course Kissinger doesn’t have any power whatsoever and so it’s likely that this will result in nothing. It’s nice that that he still wants to play a role, and kind of cute if he thinks he does still have power, but more responsible people have to take action and make these decisions.”

Kissinger reportedly called President Ford to inform him of his decision. It’s not clear what response he received.
