LATEST POLLS SHOW NEWT GINGRICH HAS PRETTY MUCH WON THE PRESIDENCY ALREADY
November 30 2011
Washington, D.C. – The 2012 Presidential election is still a little less than a year away, but the drama has already started to reach the boiling point. Most of that drama, understandably, revolves around the Republican race for the nomination of that party which has switched front runners nearly every other week.
At the top of the pile right now is former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich whose surge from nearly the bottom of the pile to the top has been one of the more remarkable surges. For Gingrich, too, the timing could not be better just weeks from the first Primary election. His ascendency has also come as relief for Republicans who had been looking for a viable candidate who also espoused Conservative values, something Gingrich does in spades.
Now a new poll has not only placed Gingrich at the top of the list for Republican candidates but also put him ahead of Barack Obama, the President, confirming that his surge is real. That polling has also pushed Gingrich forward in the national mindset, and pretty much given him the Presidency already, at least on an unofficial basis.
“While we have seen Republican nominees rank higher than the President in the past, this one is different for a bunch of reasons. Not much different, but different largely because it is coming so late in the primary season,” said a spokesperson for Rasmussen Reports, which conducted the survey. “While the percentages are still within the margin of error it is possible that the numbers will push a lot of voters over to the Gingrich camp. We stop short of actually proclaiming President, but we are near that.”
According to insiders in the Gingrich campaign, a campaign that only a few weeks ago appeared dead in the water, Gingrich himself is ready to take over the Presidency at a moment’s notice.
It is believed unlikely that Obama will concede his position at this stage. Aside from the legal implications, it would also be a little while before he is able to move all his stuff out of the White House.
“At the start of this campaign season I would not have picked Gingrich. Then again I wouldn’t have picked Cain or Bachmann or Perry either and they have all had a shot at the top. It’s been interesting to say the least but in looking at it now, Gingrich is the one that does make sense,” said Scrape TV Political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “He is easily the best seasoned candidate and that makes him a fairly easy choice. We are still a long way out from the final stretch but I would be surprised to see him gain the nomination.”
Gingrich is currently at the top of the polling for the first Primary in Iowa which takes place in January. A win there would not secure him the Presidency.
“There is no doubt that this will be a tough election for Obama but there is really no reason at this stage to give up yet. There is still a year or so to go and a lot of things could change in that time and so just giving up right now would be a little silly,” continued Kinsey. “Aside from all the legal issues that would arise from just giving the Presidency to Gingrich or whatever other Republican nominee might be at the top of the polls right now there are still thing that he can get done. Besides, moving in the winter without any advanced planning would just be a pain in the butt and I’m sure he wouldn’t want to do that.”
Gingrich is reportedly already packed.
