NEWT GINGRICH READY TO DECLARE WAR ON IRAN OVER NUCLEAR STOCKPILE
November 13 2011
Spartanburg, S.C. – There is no doubt that things are starting to heat up in American politics. With both the Republican primaries just weeks away and with tensions across the world demanding attention from the United States, the activity for American politicians is starting to reach a fever pitch, and of course those looking to gain political ground are more than ready to stir up the pot even more.
Chief amongst those is a man once though dead, a man that few gave much credit, and one that most assumed would be long gone by this stage. Since the swoon of Rick Perry began, it is Newt Gingrich who has started to surge and become a major player in the Republican movement, with some polls actually placing him in second place, something unimaginable only a few short weeks ago. And, being the seasoned politician that he is, Gingrich has seized that opportunity and started to make his play.
In particular Gingrich, in the most recent debate on Saturday, said that he was more than willing to go to war with Iran over the nuclear program in that country and as President would order such an action. Of course the Iranian crisis is likely only weeks away from reaching a head and the Presidential election is a year away, but Gingrich wanted everyone to know just what he would do if he were in fact President right now, like today.
“First of all, as maximum covert operations-- to block and disrupt the Iranian program-- in-- including-- taking out their scientists, including breaking up their systems. All of it covertly, all of it deniable. First of all, as maximum covert operations-- to block and disrupt the Iranian program-- in-- including-- taking out their scientists, including breaking up their systems. All of it covertly, all of it deniable,” said Gingrich. “…if in the end, despite all of those things-- the dictatorship persists, you have to take whatever steps are necessary to break its capacity to have a nuclear weapon.”
Given the nature of the debate Gingrich was not able to go into any further detail on his plans to attack Iran, nor if he would continue to pursue such an option even if the country is disarmed once he becomes President.
As Speaker of the House, Gingrich has long advocated attacking Iran for one reason or another.
“This situation with Iran is really going to have to be dealt with very shorty or not at all. It isn’t something that can wait a year. I doubt very much that the Israelis or the Iranians are going to want to wait that long to continue this battle, say put the whole thing on hold or something,“ said Scrape TV International analyst Gustav Hander. “It really isn’t advantageous for Iran to delay the nuclear program for any length of time to accommodate the American elections. It really wouldn’t make a whole lot of strategic success, no matter who they think might end up winning.”
Mitt Romney also advocated attacking Iran while Herman Cain supported a less inflammatory approach. Those three are the current front runners for the Presidency.
Iran meanwhile has continued to build bombs, likely betting that Gingrich will once again slide in the polls.
