OBAMA CONSIDERS DISBANDING CONGRESS ENTIRELY

December 14 2011

Washington, D.C. – The American political system has always been based on a system of checks and balances. All Democratic systems have such measures in place to one degree or another, but he American system created what is easily the most robust, and some would argue bureaucratic, system yet developed.capitol building

Part of the reason that system is so bulky, and so necessary, is because of the sheer size and complexity of the United States as a whole. The country is big and diverse and that requires a lot of government just to make it flow, and more government means more opportunities for abuse and manipulation, not to mention things just getting in the way of doing an efficient job.

Those obstacles have usually meant a great deal of frustration for political leaders trying to make progress, having to negotiate every little point often for political reasons alone. Consequently not a whole lot gets done most of the time, something that has probably plagued the Obama administration more than any other. Now Obama, finally frustrated with the lack of progress he has been making, is apparently considering just doing and end-around on legislators and doing away with one obstacle, Congress, for good.

“Well, what we're going to have to do is continue to make progress on the economy over the next several months. And where Congress is not willing to act, we're going to go ahead and do it ourselves. But it would be nice if we could get a little bit of help from Capitol Hill,” said the President during an interview with KOAA-TV in Colorado.  house of representatives

Congress is currently largely controlled by the Republican Party and has routinely become an obstacle to passing bills and other legislation important to the President.

It’s not clear if the President is looking to close Congress, or just do things without them, rendering them essentially meaningless.

“Getting rid of Congress would certainly be a bold move, but also a difficult one. Doing anything in Washington is tough and something that dramatic would be next to impossible. I’d imagine as well that you would need congressional approval to do something like that, which would of course be pretty tough to get,” said Scrape TV Political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “Aside from putting people out of jobs, I’m sure most members of Congress would oppose such a move on purely political grounds which would be the exact same problem Obama has been having all along. It’s really a tough thing to get done.”obama thrilled

It’s believed likely that Obama won’t actually get rid of Congress, though he will keep talking about it.

“It would give him a good deal more power. He would really have a free hand to do what he needs to do, to get bills passed and things. You know, the things that a President does. It’ll make that a whole lot easier and stuff,” continued Kinsey. “Getting there though, that’ll be a tough thing. Getting rid of Congress won’t be easy and it could require an extra term. That’s really the challenge for him right now. Upending the entire political system could take more time than he has, particularly if Congress gets involved.”

The Capitol Building would likely be turned into a basketball court following the disbandment of Congress.
