OBAMA WILLING TO BE SELECTIVE ABOUT THE VOTES HE RECEIVES NEXT YEAR
December 18 2011
Washington, D.C. – There has been, perhaps, no more unpopular President than Barack Obama right now. What started as a dream of hope and change has ended up being an exercise in muddling mediocrity, something that has started to become more and more apparent to even the most dedicated of supporters.
That dwindling support has forced Obama’s polling numbers into the toilet, and though there has been a small rebound of late, he is still well below where he needs to be in order to win an election. There is still a lot of time left, and his opponent has still not been chosen, and that may result in a scant election victory for the President, lifting him to a second term, but that seems like a world away at this stage.
Still, as one would expect from Obama, he is apparently nonplussed by the whole situation. While there are likely moments of concern and even panic, Obama has remained cool in the face of those declining numbers and has now, at least according to insiders, become comfortable with them, hoping to gain in quality what he loses in quantity which is more than enough for him.
“Look, we know where things are. We understand the temperature of the nation at this stage and it is not where we thought we would. It’s far from ideal, but don’t for a second think that we don’t understand it. We are very aware of our situation,” said an Obama insider. “The President is concerned but not overly so. He would rather the
situation be reversed but it is what it is. He doesn’t work and live on fantasy, he’s a realist and he has made it clear what the situation is an how best to go about dealing with it, which means going for the highest quality votes he can get.”
Obama’s approval rating stands at 45 percent and re-election numbers have showed a marked decline in recent months, with only 43 percent saying that he should have another term.
“This has been the strategy for a little while now and we are determined to make it work. The President doesn’t just want any votes, he wants the best votes. Frankly, he’s willing to have less than his opponent whoever that might be, if he can get the highest quality ballots. That’s really what he’s concentrating on right now,” continued the insider. “We feel that quality vote will carry the day. He doesn’t want just anyone voting for him, he only wants the people who want to vote him and everyone else can vote however they like.”
While Obama does not technically need a majority to win an election, only one President in history has ever been put into office without the majority of votes.
“He knows that a lot of people aren’t going to vote for him, and that he is going to lose out on some quality votes along the way. He’s accepted that and has decided to move on. He can’t get every great vote, but he feels he, we, can get a lot of them, more than the other guys and that that will carry the day,” continued the insider. “So many of the votes out there just don’t matter and he is willing to let his opponents chase them around. He wants quality, not quantity, and that is the way we are going to run his campaign.”
Obama has apparently asked for advice from former President George W. Bush to help him with the new infinitive.
