OBAMA’S POPULARITY SPIKES IN EUROPEAN STATES

July 16 2011

Paris, France – All presidencies are built on the cult of personality, at least in the modern era. Very few elections, at least in the United States, have anything to do with experience or political viewpoints, but rather the ability of the candidates to compell obama election
the audience to vote for him or her. As much as we would like to believe that people vote for issues or even promises, the truth is that most people vote for people, and the most popular one usually wins.

There is no other way to explain how one of the most liberal Presidents in history could be succeeded by one of the most conservative, who was then followed by another extreme liberal. Such extremes in the political landscape illustrate that there is no firm political or social identity in the United States, that most people ultimately vote for who they like the best. Last time around that was, of course, Barack Obama. Unfortunately, for Obama much of that good will has worn off. The realities of actual governance have taken their toll on the affection for the President. In many ways, he is at the stage Britney Spears was at when she shaved her head. He’s still there, but people don’t know whether they like him anymore. Fortunately for Obama not everyone feels the same way, particularly in the European states where his popularity remains high even as it dips on the American side of the voting public, something which may yet help carry him to victory in 2012. obama voting

“It’s a rough go and it’s going to get even rougher as the election heats up. We are not immune to the polls and we are very much watching them all the time. We do realize that polls, especially this early out, don’t necessarily reflect voter intent, but they help give us a feel,” said an Obama campaign insider. “There are many states in the U.S. where his popularity has been waning, even in states he won last time around, and that is very much a concern but again, we are very early in the process.”

Recent polling has shown Obama at all time lows in terms of job approval and all time highs in disapproval. Only American states were polled.

“Luckily, Europe is a bright spot. He remains very popular there and we expect that by engaging the voters in those states we will be able to gain a lot of extra support, and the votes necessary to get back into the White House,” continued the insider. “The trick is winning over the majority of the states. European voting doesn’t work the german
same way as it does in American states, there is no Electoral College, and so you need to win the popular vote. Hopefully that will relate to enough votes, in addition to the American votes, to push us over the edge. A lot can happen between now and election day, but we feel this is our best opportunity to win.”

Thus far, Obama has not won congressional approval to allow European states to vote in the general election, though a bill to allow primaries has apparently garnered a lot of support in recent weeks.

“I think, frankly, that because so few of the Republican candidates have a strong national profile and because they are likely going to end up beating each other up so badly, that it is extremely likely we will see Obama in office for another four years, European votes or not. It’s very tough to oust an incumbent,” said Scrape TV Political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “I think if they add in the European votes it will only secure an already solid victory. It’s a tough go right now to be sure, but a year is a long time. Of course if the Republican candidates make a push in Europe that could shift the dynamic a little bit, but those states are still very much Obama domain and that isn’t likely to change anytime soon.”

It’s believed likely that German Democratic primary will precede Iowa.
