PALIN MAY STILL RUN FOR PRESIDENT, THOUGH MAY QUIT BEFORE FINAL VOTE
December 20 2011
Wasilla, AK – There has been a lot of talk in recent weeks over the steadily diminishing field for Republican candidates. Some have fallen away in the polls and others, like Herman Cain, have just dropped out completely. Only weeks ahead of the first primary, it appears likely that very shortly we will start to see more and more candidates dropping out, leaving only a handful still vying for the nomination.
One name that many expected would be in play at this time is Sarah Palin, the former Alaskan Governor who many predicted would enter the race for President. Palin, surprising and disappointing many supporters, pulled out of the speculation game earlier this year, declaring that she would not seek candidacy for President.
Since that time Palin has stayed largely out of the limelight, giving way to the candidates themselves, but now she has come roaring back, suggesting that she might still get involved in the race, which she will likely quite sometimes before getting enough votes or at any other time she sees fit.
“It's not too late for folks to jump in. Who knows what will happen in the future,” Palin told Fox News.
She had no further comment and it’s not clear if she was referring to herself or some other potential candidate.
Palin left the program part way through the segment, in the middle of a sentence.
Palin then went out for lunch before deciding to go home and take a nap while on her way to the restaurant.
“I think at this stage it’s probably too late for another candidate to get involved. We are two weeks away from the first primary and all the polls have their candidates lined up. If there’s one thing I know about politics, it’s that pollsters don’t like adding new candidates to their questionnaires. They have this weird obsession with cutting rather than adding,” said Scrape TV Political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “They might be willing to make an exception in the case of Palin because they know, no matter what, that they will end up cutting her out at some point. I mean she could win every primary, every poll, but eventually, well, we all know what will happen eventually.”
In order to run, Palin would likely have to quit her job at Fox News which she would probably have no trouble doing at all.
“The race is starting to firm up and bringing anyone else in would be really disruptive, perhaps in a good way. Unfortunately it would likely end up going nowhere because, well, it just would. I mean if you want people to vote for you, you have to be willing to vote for yourself. The last time Sarah Palin had an opportunity to do that she only put half an X down and then dropped the ballot on the floor, not exactly leading by example,” continued Kinsey. “It would be fun to watch, but ultimately would be disappointing for everyone. Anticlimactic, I think, in the end and no one wants that in a Presidential election.”
Michele Bachmann has reportedly asked Palin to stay out the race for some bizarre reason.
