PRESIDENT GINGRICH WILL MAKE SURE ALL POOR CHILDREN GET WORK

Washington, D.C. – Jobs are scarce across the country, heck across the world, but that situation won’t last forever. Eventually the economy will turn back around and allow most of the people who are able and willing to work, to work again. For now, though, the lack of jobs is still a major issue and something that will, undoubtedly, fuel much of the chatter in the 2012 Presidential election.
Much of that chatter will inevitably focus on President Obama and his failure to restore the economy to its prior strength. No President would have been able to do anything of the sort, the ongoing issues in Europe are the best evidence that the global economic system is still very unhealthy, but that is what happens in politics. Blame gets assessed and fair has nothing to do with it.
At least one political opponent has already started that rhetoric against the President despite still not having the nomination of his party and, has already started to formulate his own strategy to put people back to work. Well, children anyway, at least the poor one’s who Newt Gingrich insists are the base for all future job growth in the country.
“Start with the following two facts: Really poor children in really poor neighborhoods have no habits of working and have nobody around them who works. So they literally have no habit of showing up on Monday. They have no habit of staying all day. They have no habit of ‘I do this and you give me cash’ unless it’s illegal,” Gingrich said last week.
While that statement was largely dismissed by people on both sides, it has started to form in the minds of the Gingrich camp as a viable platform on which to base his candidacy and may form the first real battleground of the 2012 election.
“We really feel that Newt nailed something there. When he said that it brought up a lot of talk, a lot of negative talk, but it actually got us thinking. I mean if kids go to work at an earlier age they will better be able to learn how to work, the value of work, and that will allow them to be successful as adults,” said an insider with the Gingrich campaign. “There are other advantages as well and we don’t think that kids will really take jobs away from adults. Things like their height and small hands make them perfect for doing intricate work in small spaces, things adults just aren’t able to do.”
The campaign has not set out a plan to change the working age yet, but will likely try and reduce the current standard of 14.
“Children are really what we have started to focus on. Teens aren’t really a concern, they are too far gone by that stage. I’m sure we can increase the number of hours teens work, we don’t want to lose them entirely, but by starting early with kids we are giving them a major leg up,” continued the insider. “We know, know for sure, that the Democrats will not be willing to put children to work and that gives us a significant advantage, both with traditional conservatives and with swing voters who are tired of having their kids at home. We feel that the combination of those two things will help win us the day.”
The children who will be forced to work will not get the vote in the new plan.
