RON PAUL GETS HEAT FOR SUPPORTING KELLY CLARKSON

Des Moines, IA – Conservative politicians rarely get mainstream support and almost never get support from celebrities. The truth is there are conservative celebrities, a handful anyway, but the majority of them keep their views quiet in order to not offend the powers in the industry. Some like Clint Eastwood are almost untouchable and others, like Chuck Norris, have no career to lose, but everyone else in the middle just tries to keep quiet.
One Republican, though, is a little different. Ron Paul is unlike most conservatives. More like a wacky uncle than a real politician, he has gained grassroots support from all across the political and social spectrum and while his candidacy is not likely to go anywhere, it is certainly an interesting run, even in Hollywood.
That is something that Kelly Clarkson apparently feels as well, throwing her support behind Paul on Twitter and getting blasted for it. However Clarkson isn’t the only one in trouble as word starts to spread that Paul himself has returned the favour, supporting Kelly Clarkson not only in her political beliefs but also in her career, something very much a no-no in both Hollywood and D.C.
“I love Ron Paul. I liked him a lot during the last republican nomination and no one gave him a chance. If he wins the nomination for the Republican party in 2012 he’s got my vote. Too bad he probably won’t,” Clarkson wrote on Twitter. 
That support raised the ire of a handful of fans, now former, who apparently disagree with the singer’s political views, however it is Paul who may have the most to lose now that he has decided to support Clarkson and her desire to continue growing her career.
“Obviously he appreciates the support from anyone and gaining celebrity support is something that he has really been lacking, unfortunately this particular support is a little problematic. He wants to publicly support Clarkson, not only because she stood up for her political views, but also because he does genuinely like her music, but that will cause a lot of problems politically,” said a Paul insider. “Look, we can put up with her music on the campaign bus. We can deal with seeing her picture all over the place, even his little journal with her pictures taped all over it, but these are all private things and we think that the worst thing to do at this stage would be to come out publicly and support her or her career. Ron speaks his mind, but in the end he is still a politician and we hope that instinct wins out.”
Paul has apparently only become a fan in recent years, never having heard of Clarkson during her heyday.
“It’s a minefield, politically. Everyone knows that there are certain celebrities whose support you just don’t go after and Kelly Clarkson is one of them. Our concern is that Ron’s nature, the thing that makes him such a great candidate, may be his undoing. We just want him to keep his views on Clarkson out of the game right now,” continued the insider. “Maybe when he is President he can do something like that but right now we need to be razor sharp and peak at the right time. The last thing we need is a scandal at this stage and that is exactly what Clarkson would create.”
Paul and Clarkson have not spoken about support one way or the other and it’s not clear if her career would benefit from an endorsement, or anything else for that matter.
