SARAH PALIN OFFERS HER OWN JOBS PLAN FOR THE NATION
September 12 2011
Wasilla, AK – Talk is not going to create jobs. Barack Obama knows that, and that’s why he proposed action in his latest speech on the jobs issue last week. That proposal, which has been both lauded and criticized, hardly unusual for Washington, still has a long way to go before becoming action but at least it is on the way.
However, because it is Washington, a lot of other people have their own ideas as to how jobs should and could be created, chief amongst them is former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Palin spoke out against the President’s plan but, unlike she has done in the past, offered her own version of the jobs package which she is also urging Congress to pass.
“The President plays us all for fools. I thought the president was very bold in his request for another blank check. I don’t consider it a plan at all,” Palin told Fox News. “No more runaway debt. She said we need entitlement reform and that status quo on the subject is no longer an option.”
Amongst other things in her plan, Palin calls for an end to all corporate income tax and drilling new oil wells in her home state of Alaska. She also vowed to fight terrorism and get people talking about work. It’s not clear when she will present her proposal to Congress or if they have any obligation to listen, her not holding any type of official political office.
“The strange thing about this criticism is that this was one of the better regarded of all proposals by the government. John Boehner, for example, said that 98% of what he wanted was in the bill. That 2% will probably kill it, but that’s neither here nor there,” said Scrape TV Political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “The issue here, really, is whether or not Congress will take a vote on the Palin plan. Legally they are not obligated to do so, but it is a Republican controlled Congress and she is a major player in that party, whether or not Republicans like to admit it. I think if they just blew off her proposal it would anger a lot of her supporters and that won’t help the party one bit.”
It’s not clear if Palin has presented her plan to Congress or simply talked about on TV and Facebook. Traditionally such submission methods are frowned upon in Washington.
“I think it is more likely that they will vote on the President’s proposal because, well because he’s the President. Many people have ideas on how to create jobs but the majority of them don’t have them voted on by congress,” continued Kinsey. “That is likely where Palin’s proposal will fall, kind of between the cracks which isn’t really all the good for Palin. Having her plan passed would really do a lot for her future ambitions.”
Palin’s plan does not include quitting your job and becoming a TV personality.
“Hopefully much of this plan passes and it puts people back to work. The concern is that it won’t happen at all, because the Republicans won’t want to give Obama a victory, but that doesn’t do anything for people looking for work, trying to pay rent and eat,” continued Kinsey. “And that is what’s most important. Whether it’s Obama’s plan that passes or Palin’s, the important thing is that the plan puts people back to work. That is a win for everyone.”
Palin has also created a jobs plan for her kids which will likely have no trouble passing.
