AS PRESIDENT, GINGRICH WILL NEVER LIE ABOUT HAVING A BUNCH OF AFFAIRS

Miami, FL – Flashback a little more than a decade ago and you will see a very different side to Newt Gingrich than the one we are seeing today. In no realm was New Gingrich considered a possible presidential candidate back then, in fact, he was barely considered capable of the job he already had, Speaker of House, which he eventually lost. Gingrich was weasel and a nasty politician, hardly even in the spectrum of President, but here he is in 2012 with a real shot.
Back on those days, Gingrich made his name with a lot of things, but one of the biggest was Clinton impeachment scandal, of which he was one of the biggest voices. That issue nearly derailed the Clinton Presidency and while Gingrich certainly wasn’t the only critical voice, he was one of the loudest, condemning Clinton even as he had multiple affairs of his own.
Now Gingrich is finally answering questions about that apparent hypocrisy, now saying that he had no problem with Clinton’s affairs, only that he lied about them under oath, something Gingrich has never done, giving him the opportunity to sleep with whomever he chooses whenever he wants and not suffer any repercussions from those actions.
“Lying under oath before a federal judge, committing perjury which is a felony for which normal people go to jail. I have never lied under oath. I have never committed perjury. I have never committed a felony,” Gingrich told Univision’s Jorge Ramos. “I've been through two divorces. I've been deposed both times under oath. Both times I told the truth in the deposition because I know that it is, I'm not a lawyer and I know it's a felony, Bill Clinton is a lawyer. He's a Yale Law School graduate. He knew it was perjury. He knew it was a felony.”
Gingrich has committed smaller crimes, which he has never answered to under oath and so doesn’t need to tell the truth about them.
Gingrich’s ex-wife came out swinging last week revealing details about their marriage and his many affairs, statements which have done little to derail his candidacy.
“This is an old argument but the reality of the Clinton situation is that he never should have been put in the position to perjure himself in the first place, that is the issue with the affair. The Republicans went after his personal indiscretions for purely political reasons which led to perjury, which was fully Clinton’s fault, but he never should have been in that spot in the first place,” said Scrape TV Political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “The lesson we learn here is that all you need to do is tell the truth about you infidelities and everything will be alright. Of course the best way to avoid that awkwardness is to just not have anyone find out about them in the first place, that would be ideal.”
It’s not clear how many of Gingrich’s affairs have been revealed in a court of law.
“Having your personal issues, who you sleep with and the like, on public display like that has to be a very jarring experience and it can lead a person to behave a little irrationally which is likely what happened with Clinton, having millions of people hearing about his sex life. That doesn’t excuse his lying, but at least it makes some sense,” continued Kinsey. “I guess in that respect Gingrich really is a safe bet. I mean he will sleep with interns as President, that’s a given, but when asked about them he will tell the truth and that’s what’s really important. I’m sure he hopes that no one will ask, but if they do he will at least be prepared.”
It’s not clear if Gingrich has told his current wife about all his affairs yet.
