EVEN SOUTH CAROLINIANS SHOCKED THEY LET NEWT GINGRICH WIN PRIMARY

January 22 2012

Charleston, S.C. – And the winner is Newt Gingrich. Yes, that Newt Gingrich. In what seemed a lock for Mitt Romney only a few days ago, particularly after wild accusations came out against New Gingrich, the people, or at least the Republicans, of South Carolina gave the Primary victory in that state to the former Speaker of the House, giving each of the main candidates one win each.newt gingrich wins south carolina

The victory was a shock to not only the Romney campaign but also to political observers who assumed, quite reasonably, that Gingrich was little more than a dead man walking after being demolished in both Iowa and New Hampshire. Gingrich himself even seemed to feel the same way, lashing out in an almost impudent way against his competition but after his victory in South Carolina, he is very much back in the race for real.

With one win for Santorum, Romney, and Gingrich, the race for the Republican candidate is very much that, a race, which had long assumed to be a sure victory for the former Massachusetts Governor. That turn was not totally unexpected given the Republican apathy towards Romney, but the reality has been a little bit of shock, especially after South Carolina which surprised even the voters who cast ballots for Gingrich that it could actually happen, that they were actually marking his name.

“The Republican Party doesn't demonize prosperity. We celebrate success in our party," Gingrich said after his victory to a crowd that was surprised it was there. "And let me be clear, if Republican leaders want to join this president in demonizing success and disparaging conservative values, then they're not going to be fit to be our nominee.”newt mitt

Romney is still in the lead nationally with 33 delegates to Gingrich’s 25. Santorum and Ron Paul trail far behind with 14 and 4 respectively.

It’s widely believed that the Florida Primary, which takes place on the 31st, will be the state that makes the decision provided voters there know what they are doing better than those in South Carolina.

“I don’t know what happened. I saw myself doing it, marking Gingrich down, and turning in the ballot but I don’t recall having any real control of my body. It was a totally out-of-body experience, very disturbing. I came back down after leaving the station and couldn’t believe what I did,” said one voter who preferred to remain anonymous. “The whole way home I thought about going back and demanding my vote back but I didn’t do it. I just went home and made dinner and watched TV. It was very strange, I still don’t know why I voted for him.”

That phenomenon has been reported statewide with thousands actually crowding hospitals in an effort to find out exactly what happened.

“There is no doubt now that this is a horse race, a real competition, Well, a two horse florida trailer park
race anyways. Rick Santorum can thinks he’s in this as much as he wants but it’s really between Gingrich and Romney, for whatever reason,” said Scrape TV Political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “It’s strange, Gingrich seems to have this sway over people and they start doing things for reasons they can’t even understand themselves. We see that in his personal life and we saw that in South Carolina. It’s very strange and a little unsettling, this black magic he seems to have, but it is something Romney will have to combat if he wants to win. Hopefully Floridians at least vote for who they want, whomever that is.”

Most people in Florida don’t really know what’s going on at the best of times, making the state a true wild card.
