JOHN EDWARDS HEART NOT REALLY UP TO CRIMINAL CORRUPTION TRIAL

January 14 2012

Raleigh, NC – Somewhere in a different universe John Edwards didn’t sleep with an aide and then use campaign money to cover up the affair. In that universe, surely, the United States would still be awaiting its first black President, the economy would still be a disaster, Osama bin Laden would still be alive, and of course, John Edwards would be the 44th President of the Union.john edwards trial

That universe is not the one in which we live, obviously, and in ours the scenario is much different. John Edwards in our universe did use campaign money to cover up his affair, and love child, and did not become President despite having absolutely everything going for him before that scandal broke back in 2008. Had he just kept his pants zipped up, Edwards would be President, but he didn’t, and he’s not.

Since that scandal broke, Edwards’ life has gone from the highest of highs to about as low as it can get. His long-suffering wife is dead, his political career is non-existent, his finances are in ruins, and he may still go to jail for his actions, misdeed that, frankly, are completely human. Now it appears that all that drama and trauma he has endured over the last three years has finally taken its toll, resulting in a delay of his corruption trial because his heart really just isn’t up to it, or up to pumping blood to different parts of his body either.john edwards

“The public has an interest in a speedy trial, and this case has already been continued twice. Ordinarily, I would try to manage something like this. But clearly there are some limitations on Mr Edwards due to real and serious health issues,” said Judge Catherine Eagles after deciding to delay the trial until after Edwards’ heart surgery next month.

The former North Carolina Senator reportedly nearly collapsed while jogging recently and has been having trouble sleeping and been suffering migraines.

The trial will proceed March 26th when Edward’s heart is more into the proceedings.

“It’s perfectly reasonable that a criminal trial like this would be delayed for serious health issues. Particularly in such a high profile case, you don’t want Edwards keeling over and dying in the courtroom. Ideally he should be as healthy as possible and able to stand up to questioning,” said Scrape TV Legal analyst Gabe Hawthorne. “Hopefully though this isn’t some ploy to get out of the trial. I mean the judge has rescheduled it but he could always die during surgery or shortly afterwards and that would allow him to get away with it. I hope that isn’t the plan, he’s already done enough damage to his reputation.”human heart

Edwards’ has a family history of heart problems. The delay in scheduling the operation indicates that it is not emergent, but all surgeries carry the risk of death.

“Look, people want to see John Edwards pay. I mean he used a lot of money that wasn’t there’s to cover up an embarrassing incident that could have cost him the Presidency, which it did. He gave into his lust and he used money that he could repay to donors to cover that up, and for that he deserves to stand trial,” continued Hawthorne. “I think people would really feel cheated if he died before the trial. No one wants the bad guy to get away with it, they want him nailed. People revelled when bin Laden died because he got what he deserved and hopefully Edwards will too and not weasel out of it by dying.”

Edwards has reportedly told friends, the few he has left, that he has felt like dying on more than one occasion but it’s not clear if this heart issue is related.
