KEN STARR ASKS AMERICA IF IT WILL LET HIM VOTE FOR A MORMON
January 10 2012
Washington, D.C. – All it takes sometimes is one break, one shot at the big time, and it can mean a career of wealth and riches. Sure, lots of people would love to be like Tom Cruise, having huge success after huge success for their entire lives, but not everyone can be that, and for those people just a little hint of success can do the trick, letting them coast for years.
Back in the late 1990’s Ken Starr was nobody of note. A lawyer who had done some things, but just a lawyer. And then he became attached to one of the biggest scandals of the decade, the Clinton impeachment. Through that arduous period Bill Clinton was diminished, the Presidency, arguably, was diminished, but Ken Starr became, well, a star.
As the years have passed the Presidency has recovered and Clinton has not only restored his legacy but added to it in profound ways, becoming more respected now than ever. Ken Starr hasn’t remained so prominent, at least the public at large, though in his own world is as big as ever, which is what prompted him to call on the American people to ask for permission to vote for a Mormon, namely Mitt Romney, in the upcoming Presidential election.
“Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary looms large on the political horizon. In the midst of lively public debates over taxes, jobs, the national debt and similarly important questions related to the future vitality of our nation, a different kind of question continues to privately occupy the minds of some prospective voters: Can I vote for a Mormon?,” Starr wrote in the Washington Post, going on to detail his logic for possibly voting for a Mormon, though not outright asking for permission.
Starr served under both Presidents Reagan and Bush Sr. making it unlikely that he would vote for the godless/Muslim/radical Christian that is Barack Obama.
“Mormon or not, Romney is likely going to be the candidate and because of that Republicans are going to have to decide whether they vote for him or no one at all. I suppose the real Christians, the people who don’t really care about things like the constitution and the like, will turn over to Obama, at least the ones who don’t believe he is a Muslim, but the rest will end up voting for Romney,” said Scrape TV Political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “It’s going to be a hard thing for many people to accept, particularly in that party, but they will have to if they want to vote and have a chance at getting the Democrat out of office, including Ken Starr.”
All of the other candidates in the race, with the exception of Jon Hunstman, are regular Christians. It’s not clear if Huntsman’s candidacy really counts as being in the race.
“A lot of people are going to be asking themselves the same question as Starr, but
most of them will resolve it for themselves. I mean they don’t have a platform like the Washington Post to ask for permission like him, if he really asked that is. I mean I’m not sure from whom he is seeking permission or even if people remember him, but he sure does,” continued Kinsey. “I mean Ken Starr’s confusion over the situation is not going to necessarily translate down to the rest of the people, not directly. I mean assuming anyone reads the Post in the first place, I doubt many are going to be all that worried about whom Ken Starr votes. I Suppose he’s still a celebrity in his own house but beyond that not so much.”
Starr is also curious whether or not the American people want him to choose paper or plastic, and whether or not he should be allowed to buy a single chocolate bar at the supermarket.
