MICHELE BACHMANN SAYS GOP RACE MAY END SOON, OR NOT, OR MAYBE, OR CABBAGE
February 5 2012
Washington, D.C. – To most observers it has become reasonably clear that the race towards the Republican nomination has started to go the way it was expected to go by now. Mitt Romney is in the lead, Newt Gingrich’s skeletons have derailed him, Rick Santorum is deluding himself, and Ron Paul is sticking through to the end.
With a win in Nevada, a definitive one to be sure, Romney has started to pull away from the crowd, a gap that will likely only continue to grow in the weeks ahead, putting him on a collision course with Barack Obama in the race for the White House in the Fall. People in Romney campaign are no doubt happy with those results, relieved perhaps the better word, but of course not everyone feels the race is over.
Amongst those who believe the run to the Republican nomination still has some life in it is Michele Bachmann who also believed at one point she had a chance of winning the contest herself. Now removed from the race, Bachmann has stepped forward and committed herself to not committing to any single candidate, preferring to let the voters choose for themselves rather than have her make the decision for them, and making a prediction that someone will win eventually.
“All four have strengths, and they all have weaknesses. That’s what this whole primary process is about right now. And people will make their decisions,” Bachmann told Bloomberg television. “I think it could be fairly soon, but, you know, Ron Paul has said he will go all the way to the convention. Newt has said he will, also. Rick Santorum has said he will. But the practicality is money is a big part of it, and it’ll be up to the candidates whether they can pay.”
Bachmann also repeated the financial numbers for the remaining candidates, something she probably learned from watching television like everyone else watching the race.
Bachmann also said that despite her prompt departure from the race she still believes she could be the unifying force the Republican Party needs for the future, and she plans to become exactly that, something again she likely read on a blog somewhere.
“What Bachmann said is completely true and a very accurate assessment of the campaign where it stands today. It’s very clear that someone will win the race and that that will be decided by the voters who inevitably will be influenced by advertising, which of course costs money. What she gave was a very concise picture of exactly what’s happening. It’s great that she’s decided to stay in the picture and not storm off and pout because she lost,” said Scrape TV Political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “It’s also great that despite getting virtually no votes, absolutely no delegates, and pretty much being laughed out of the race that she has stayed so positive and believes so clearly that she is the future of the party. That is exactly the kind of optimism the party needs if they want to defeat Obama. Both her optimism and her insight into the whole political process are things that can unify the party come November.”
Bachmann also believes that the voters will decide who wins the Presidential race, and that cabbages grow in from the ground.
