Augusta, GA – With the historic Presidential win by Barack Obama political pundits and cultural observers alike are mulling over the meaning and impact of the country electing a black man to the highest office. While the debates will undoubtedly go on for a long time, one organization, the KKK, has already made up their mind about what the win will mean; President Biden.
“We don’t know who the Republican candidate in 2012 will be, but we are pretty sure that Joe Biden will be running for re-election,” said a spokesperson for the Augusta chapter who preferred to remain anonymous. “We will of course encourage our constituency to vote for the Republican candidate whoever that might be but we are pretty sure that they will be running against Biden.”
The spokesperson would not elaborate on the comment or discuss if his particular chapter had any particular political plans, but the indication is clear.
“There is little doubt that organizations like the Klan and Neo-Nazi organizations will not be happy with the results since their whole reason for existing is segregation, but it’s unlikely that anything like that will happen,” said Scrape TV Racism analyst Dale Hart. “With the possible exception of the Pope, the President of the United States is the best protected person in the world and they know that these types of organizations are out there. The mere fact that Obama has been elected is evidence that America as a nation has fundamentally changed its attitudes on race. Organizations like that have suffered a severe degradation of membership and organization and the likelihood of something like that happening is very low.”
There have been four U.S. Presidents assassinated – Abraham Lincoln, James Garfield, William McKinley, and John F. Kennedy – all of whom were killed by lone individuals, which indicates that large membership and high level organization may not be necessary.
“The history of most assassination whether in the US or in other countries is that they are committed by lone individuals. The threat is absolutely real but one both Barack Obama and the secret service I’m sure are well aware of,” said Scrape TV political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “Anything can happen of course, but there’s a very low probability of that happening. If McCain had been elected there was a much better chance that he would have died in office than Obama. If it does happen at least there is someone capable to take over.”
Neither party had any comment on the endorsement, though rumours from insiders close to Governor Sarah Palin suggest that she liked the idea of running against Biden in 2012 versus Obama.
“Palin no doubt still has an eye to the White House. It would be a stretch to suggest that she would encourage that kind of thing but with certain people morals and ethics become a secondary issue to ambition so you never know,” continued Kinsey. “But that aside it will be interesting to see if there is a rise or a decline in that type of behaviour. Is Obama a changing force or a result of a changing America? If you look at the way the vote went the states where you expect this kind of sentiment largely voted Republican and the question is did they vote for McCain or against Obama? We may never have a clear answer on that.”
“America is a complex country when it comes to race and that is unlikely to end anytime soon,” continued Hart. “The comforting thing for the bulk of Americans is that even if they don’t have black people to hate anymore, they still have Arabs.”
