JAPANESE GOVERNMENT ORDERS MIND CONTROLLING ROBOTS BY 2020
April 25 2010
Tokyo, Japan – Throughout the history of humanity the fear of technological advances has been a preeminent hallmark of culture. No matter what the change – firearms, the printing press, the assembly line, or the internet – there have always
been people who have been terrified of the possibilities that new inventions and new advances bring. Occasionally, those changes have been met with violent opposition, particularly amongst those directly affected. Such advances however have often become integrated into the culture and frequently become essential parts of the future of human society.
Traditionally such changes occur in fits and spurts with society having time to integrate those new changes into the way we see the world but in the modern world the pace has picked up dramatically. With the rise of the web, genetic engineering, the exploration of space, and a whole host of other changes dramatically altering the way
in which our society is constructed humanity is dealing with more changes now than in the rest of history combined. There is one other advance that has gradually changed
human society over the last century and continues to grow alongside us, ever evolving into more complex forms. Robots have in one form or another played an increasingly major role on modern society, and if the Japanese government has its way that will only increase going forward, potentially damning humanity to oblivion.
“Essentially the Japanese government has partnered with major robot manufacturers throughout the country to establish the technology to pair the human brain with the robot brain and allow human users to operate them. It’s a kind of dream that people have had for years, centuries even, harnessing the power of the human mind, but one that is
closer to reality than ever now,” said Scrape TV Science analyst Dr. Howard Poe. “They estimate that within a decade the technology to control simple robots with the mind will be commercially available which could mean great things for business, but could ultimately damn humanity to an ignoble ending.”
Post-apocalyptic futures inspired by robots have routinely been a part of popular fiction including the ‘Terminator’ films and the ‘Battlestar Galactica’ franchise.
“One thing fiction has always taught us that reliance on technology can lead to disastrous consequences, particularly when you remove the human component. Of course that kind of doom saying could be directly associated with workers who felt that machines were taking their jobs or that firearms were the work of the devil, which of course fell to nothing in the end but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t come true this time,” continued Poe. “It really depends on the technology and how far people take it.

Traditionally if an advance can be made, it will be made so while the early versions of this technology will likely be one way streets, human to robot, it likely won’t stay that way for long with robots eventually communicating and integrating with the human consciousness.”
It’s believed it may take decades yet before the speed of robot brains match human brains, at which point it might be too late to do anything.
“Technology has a way of moving in strange an wholly unexpected directions which makes it unlikely that any of these science fiction
franchises have accurately predicted ho robots will destroy humanity, in details, the overall picture seems fairly accurate,” continued Poe. “I predict massive destruction at the beginning coupled with a slow demise for the handful of survivors who will eventually run out of contaminated water, scraps of food, and places to run from the malevolent robots. I for one bow to our robot rulers, though I doubt honestly that that will matter to them.”
This will not be the first time the Japanese people have sought the destruction of humanity, though many fear it will be the last.
