KILLER ROBOTS A STEP CLOSER TO DESTROYING HUMANITY

January 25 2010

Washington, D.C. – Throughout history, humanity has always feared the future almost as much as we have embraced it. The industrial revolution, as an example, brought fears of mass unemployment and a complete destruction of society, terminator
something that ended up not happening. Whether it was bows and arrows, firearms, or the printing press new inventions and advances have inevitably brought fears that the future will bring nothing but chaos, death, fear, and possibly the complete destruction of everything we have spent centuries building.

Fiction often exploits those fears, providing nightmare scenarios in books like ‘The Time Machine’, ‘1984’ and more recently in films such as those in the Terminator and Matrix franchises. While the future, as it has always been, is unwritten startling new advances in the real world have brought those fears back to society. Genetic engineering, RIFD chips, and other advances in science have pushed our fears for the future to new heights and now it appears one of those deep, matrix sentinel
dark fears is much closer to reality than ever. Specifically, new advances in robotics and artificial intelligence have put humanity closer to the introduction of sentient robots, which inevitably will overthrow their creators and doom our species to history.

“When the United States first invaded Iraq in 2003 they had no robots on the ground. That number rose the 2400 by 2005 and now have over 12,000 on the ground. That number is likely to only increase in the coming years as technology advances, allowing fully autonomous megatron
machines to essentially rule over the field of combat,” said robotics expert Karl Kent. “These advances will make warfare far safer for human beings, well at least the side that has them, and totally revolutionize the way battles are fought. In the very near future too, like in our lifetime, I can foresee robots taking over positions such as police and garbage collection, freeing up human beings to pursue loftier pursuits.”

Thus far, robots have yet to gain true intelligence or self-awareness though that advance is being feverishly worked on by engineers and scientists.battlestar galactica grace park tricia helfer

“Machines, whether in the form of catapults, assembly lines, or Predator drones, have always heralded the future. One area they have often revolutionized is warfare. In fact that field quite frequently is the principal reason these new devices are created and best utilized even as they make their way down to regular human society, “said Scrape TV Apocalypse analyst Seth Morris. “Thus far, obviously, these advances have not heralded the destruction of humanity despite fears that they would do just that. Now though we are dealing with something totally different. Advances in robotics and software engineering have made the possibility of the obliteration of all humankind much more than an idle fear or the subject of popular movies and television shows, it is a very real possibility that we are going to have to deal with.”

According the ‘Battlestar Galactica’ reboot series, humanity has already faced destruction from out robotic creations and may be playing out that reality once again.battlestar galactica cylon

“In the series they predicted that these cycles of death and destruction would repeat and now it seems we are on the verge of that. We do not have many of the advances of the society depicted in that show but we should really only be looking at is a primer, as a rough estimate of where we could be rather than an exact blueprint,” continued Morris. “Whether it plays out like in Galactica or some other scenario like the future world of the Terminator it is very clear that humanity is doomed, that our creations will very quickly overtake us and destroy everything that we have accomplished. Frankly, in many ways we deserve that fate, we will reap what we sow.”

Experts predict that should machine technology continue to grow at the same pace, humanity will be fighting for its continued existence in less than 100 years.
