NEW ANALYSIS EXPLAINS BULGE ON FARSIDE OF THE MOON IS BAD NEWS FOR EVERYONE

November 20 2010

Santa Cruz, CA – There are uncountable mysteries in the Universe. From pulsars to quasars, from dark matter to red dwarfs there are natural processes going on throughout the vastness of space of which we have little or no understanding. Many quasar
of those mysteries are far, far away and while they may be studied and explained by future generations of humans, they are well beyond our current science. There are, however, enough mysteries in our own neighbourhood to keep science occupied for a very long time.

For most people the moon is not one of those grand mysteries. As a partner to our planet for longer than we have been around the moon has become a little pedestrian, a little mundane. That perception though belies the value of our closest neighbour which is as diametrically opposed to our own home as anything else in the Universe. It is also only very loosely studied with a lot of observation but only a handful of hands-on experience to study its many mysteries. Now though at least on story of the moon has been explained and it doesn’t provide any real answers for us on Earth, and may actually be cause for a great deal of concern for us.moon far side

“This strange bulge on the far side of the moon is something that we have puzzled over for a long time. Simply put, it doesn’t make much sense. Logically the assumption would have been the gravitational and tidal forces applied to the moon by the Earth could have created such a bulge but it would also follow that both sides would have the same characteristic, which it doesn’t,” said Ian Garrick-Bethell of UC Santa Cruz. “It may be that volcanic activity or other geological processes over the past 4.4 billion years have changed the expression of the bulge on the nearside. It could also be something far more sinister in the development of planetary bodies, that some bodies are just inherently unstable which could mean sinister things for our own planet.”

The moon is not known to be geologically active now but may very well have been in the past.

“This at first glance appears to be less of a concern and more of a mystery. There is moon dark side
no body in the Universe that we have yet discovered that is perfectly spherical, it just doesn’t seem like that is something that is possible given the type of development a lot of the bodies have,” said Scrape TV Science analyst Dr. Howard Poe. “Of course this particular oddity is exactly that, very odd and it bears studying and explanation. It could very well be a natural formation that has developed over the course of billions of years, but it could also be something far more dire, something dark and sinister that could ultimately be a ticking time clock for our doom.”

The Santa Cruz researchers admit that there study is still in the early stages.dark side of the moon pink floyd

“It could be something like a secret underground base for an alien species, or an aperture in the space-time continuum that could tear open and suck us into it, or be the passageway for an invading force. The simple truth is we don’t know what it is and it’s entirely possible that this neighbour, this partner that we have lived beside for so long could well be a looming danger to our survival,” continued Poe. “I would stop short of advocating the elimination of the moon but I think it’s something we should seriously consider. Obviously we would like to know what exactly is going on in case it ever comes up again, but sometimes curiosity does indeed kill that cat and that is a risk we really shouldn’t be taking when it comes to the survival of the entire human race.”

At this point it is not believed that we have enough firepower to destroy a body as large as the moon.
