UNDESIRABLES BEING ROUNDED UP FOR ONE-WAY TRIP TO MARS

November 16 2010

Washington, D.C. – The history of exploration is littered with death, pain, suffering, and turmoil the likes of which we in the modern age simply can’t imagine. We in the modern world benefit from the sacrifices made by those early explorers that columbus landing
discovered new lands and built cities. Those early explorations offered no promises, held no guarantees, and were filled with mysteries large and small that both killed and thrilled those brave souls that helped to conquer the untamed wilds of our planet.

Most of world is of course explored and conquered now with human beings inhabiting virtually every corner of the globe leaving those of us with the wanderlust possessed by our ancestors with few options for exploration. One of the big opportunities though is perhaps the biggest chance of all, the exploration of space. Fraught with even more danger and peril than anything our predecessors could have faced, space is truly the final frontier, and one we are only on the very precipice of discovering. While we have made some baby steps into the great beyond, it our greatest opportunities still lie ahead. The next logical step, the next target, is our nearest planetary neighbour Mars. With danger and peril present on any trip, much debate has been made as to who should be the first to travel to the red planet, but now some scientists are proposing that we do what has been done before, send criminals and let them forge out a living.mars landscape

“The main point is to get Mars exploration moving. The astronauts would go to Mars with the intention of staying for the rest of their lives, as trailblazers of a permanent human Mars colony,” said Dirk Schulze-Makuch of Washington State University. “The question of course is who to send. There are certainly going to be certain things that we need in building a colony or a civilization and the harsh environment of Mars requires a certain degree of technical expertise but much like we did in Australia, perhaps the best option is to send those we won’t miss.”

Much of Australia’s rough outback was forged by the criminals that had been sent there as British prisoners.criminal prison

“We have already begun the process of selecting the types of individuals that would be best suited to this kind of exercise. Obviously a robust selection process would have to occur before we would be ready to launch but for now we can start to choose the types of people that we can do without here on Earth,” said NASA insider. “There are millions of prisoners all over the world and in virtually every country overpopulation in prisons has become a major issue. By sending these types of people we will be able to establish a solid presence on Mars and rid ourselves of some problematic individuals who would otherwise be causing us trouble. It is a win-win situation across the board.”

Murderers and rapists are likely to be the first people sent to the planet.mars surface

“It’s an interesting notion, this sending people on a one way trip but is not unprecedented. For centuries people took these one-way trips. They had no illusions about returning home, they were in for a new life, a new experience and that is the adventuresome spirit that we have largely lost,” said Scrape TV Science analyst Dr. Howard Poe. “Sending criminals though, well that’s a risky move. Obviously we don’t want to lose our best and brightest permanently but we also don’t want a planet of criminals right next to us. They will likely raise criminals and then we will be in for a rough time. They certainly have the toughness to win over the planet, but will that be the kind of neighbour we want? That is a serious concern and one that really does need to be addressed.”

It is not believed that the criminals would be able to develop significant weaponry in order to attack those who exiled them generations before.
