KIRK CAMERON DRAWS ON SITCOM EXPERIENCE TO BATTLE STEPHEN HAWKING
May 18 2011
Los Angeles, CA – It is fairly safe to assume that in our lifetimes we will never know all the answers to life and death. For as long as people have been around we have explored these questions and come up with no answers, and none seem to be

forthcoming. For some it is accepted that these questions will eventually be answered, likely in some distant future, but for others the answers have been readily apparent for a long time and require no debate or dispute.
That battle between science and faith is something that has gone on for centuries, and something that may very well go on until we have clear and definitive answers, if they ever come. Any clear resolution though is likely centuries or more away, standing as we do on the front edge of scientific exploration but that doesn’t mean the debate will demure in any way. For both sides, their path to answers is strong and resolute, resulting in conflict between the two parties and their most vocal representatives. Now a very public battle has broken out between two of the more prominent of explorers in the quest for understanding as renowned physicist and thinker Stephen Hawking squares off against Kirk Cameron, who has drawn on his extensive sitcom and direct-to-video experience to solve the questions of existence.
“To say anything negative about Stephen Hawking is like bullying a blind man. He has an unfair disadvantage, and that gives him a free pass on some of his absurd ideas.
Professor Hawking is heralded as 'the genius of Britain,' yet he believes in the scientific impossibility that nothing created everything and that life sprang from non-life,” said Cameron.”Why should anyone believe Mr. Hawking's writings if he cannot provide evidence for his unscientific belief that out of nothing, everything came. He says he knows there is no Heaven. John Lennon wasn't sure. He said to pretend there's no Heaven. That's easy if you try. Then he said he hoped that someday we would join him. Such wishful thinking reveals John and Stephen's religious beliefs, not good science.”
Hawking recently called Heaven and the afterlife a fairy tale.
“This is a debate that really seems to have no end and one that evokes a great deal of passion. It has compelled the greatest thinker of all time, not just our own, and draws a great deal of interest amongst the populace, but like all arguments it will likely be won or lost on charisma not facts,” said Scrape TV Science analyst Dr. Howard Poe. “There is little doubt that despite his education and his massive contributions to science, that Hawking simply doesn’t have the same type of draw that Cameron has. As a celebrity he draws a lot of water and that means he will have a lot of followers. Throw in his sitcom experience and you have a potent argument.”
Cameron starred as mischievous teen Mike Seaver on ‘Growing Pains’ from 1985-1992. Hawking has appeared as himself on multiple episodes of ‘The Simpsons’.
“I spent a part of my youth on sitcom sets and I can tell you that you learn a lot from that lifestyle. It’s a complex environment with a lot of different people from a lot of different backgrounds and that gives you real life experience which you cannot gain in the classroom,” continued Poe. “I personally put my stake with science, but there are always other arguments to be made and with his diverse experience, well Cameron can make those arguments and win over a lot of supporters. That is experience that Hawking, no matter his degrees or respect, simply will never have and that puts him at a disadvantage.”
Hawking has thus far had no comment on Cameron’s comments.
