MONGOLIAN SCIENTISTS TO COOL COUNTRY WITH GIANT BLOCKS OF ICE
November 17 2011
Ulan Bator, Mongolia – In terms of history it wasn’t all that long ago that Mongolia ruled most of the modern world. Arguably the most dominant empire to ever exist, the small country far exceeded its natural range and influenced the future of our planet. That influence, though, ended a few years ago.
Since that time Mongolia has largely stayed in place, hardly moving with the modern world as many great empires tend to do. Not only has the country not maintained that momentum, they have not even kept pace with most of the planet they once nearly ruled. No more, though, if a group of scientists have their way.
In an effort to stave off global warming Mongolia has initiated a be experiment which will store freezing winter temperatures inside a giant block of ice, which would then be slowly thawed in warmer months keeping the nation cool and flush with potable water, an advantage that few other countries would have, once again putting the nation on the lips of people all over the world.
“Everyone is panicking about melting glaciers and icecaps, but nobody has yet found a cheap, environmentally friendly alternative. If you know how to manipulate them, naled ice shields can repair permafrost and building cool parks in cities,” said Robin Grayson, a scientist working on the project.
Summer months in Mongolia can become intolerably hot, part of the reason, many believe, the nation has fallen so far back from its peak years ruling half the known world.
It’s not clear if this new initiative will once again drive the nation to once again become a dominant political and military force, but it is believed unlikely that such a thing will happen.
“This type of thing has been attempted before and it has mostly failed. The effort expends more energy than it returns and that makes it a losing proposition, but if someone can nail down the process, make it work more efficiently, they might have something,” said Scrape TV Science analyst Dr. Howard Poe. “I doubt that will happen though. There have been many advances to come out of Mongolia in the past but most of those have been of the rape and marauding type, not really the scientific and frankly that probably won’t change anytime soon.”
Mongolian officials have noted that they have not invaded another country in centuries. It’s not clear what exactly they have been doing for all those centuries.
“I doubt that when the Khans took over country after country they could imagine that their descendents would be worried about giant ice cubes to cool down cities, but I guess times change and they have certainly really changed for Mongolia,” continued Poe. “If it works, great for Mongolia but I doubt that it will be adopted anywhere else. People are just reticent to pay much attention to anything Mongolia has down for the last few hundred years and I doubt that will change very much even if this works. That may be too bad, or not. It may not matter at all.”
Few experts really cared if the experiment worked or not.
