NEW ROBOTS INVENT THEIR OWN LANGUAGE AND BEGIN PLOT AGAINST HUMANS
September 17 2011
Sydney, Australia – Robots have long been a part of science fiction and as long as they have been around, people have been scared of them. Robots represent, in many ways, our fear of the future and our fear of technology. Machines angered workers during the industrial revolution, robots, the direct descendants of those machines, angered workers in the 20th century. Now, as robot technology evolves, it is entirely possible that out worst nightmares about robots could come true.
In particular, those concerns revolve around a robot uprising, a revolution by machines that would upset that balance of the world and result in the slaughter of millions, or possibly all, human beings on the planet. Such nightmare scenarios have been depicted in endless sci-fi blockbusters, but now with the development of a new type of robot which can invent its own language, we may be closer than ever to that eventual outcome. And we have Australians to blame.
“When they need a new word, they invent one. We don’t realize how sophisticated our use of language to describe the world around us is,” said researcher Janet Wiles. “Eventually we would like to teach these robots to work with humans, making them into caregivers, companions, and even butlers which they would be perfectly suited to doing. I think they would even like it to be honest.”
Such a scenario, robots being used as slaves, often results in the robot apocalypse which causes so much destruction to mankind. With a language of their own, a
language human beings may not be able to understand, the possibility of such a revolt may only grow.
“Robot apocalypses do seem on the extreme end of human imagination. There are many obstacles to such an eventuality and not just technological. There are always going to be more humans than robots and that makes a war a pretty tough thing to win for them, unless of course they become extremely strong or gain control of nuclear or biological weapons,” said Scrape TV Apocalypse analyst Seth Morris. “They could also increase their numbers behind our backs, building their own machines and hiding them until the time is right. The thing that allowed human beings to expand was communication, and that is something robots now have.”
It’s believed that the robots have still on developed a rudimentary vocabulary, though because we don’t understand what they are saying it could be much more advanced.
“The end of humanity, the rise of the machines, is obviously the nightmare scenario and not something which is likely. Robots though could become very powerful and still cause a great deal of destruction to mankind and that would still be bad. They may not kill all seven billion of us, but one or two would still suck,” continued Morris. “If we want to avoid that eventuality it is important that we begin a dialogue with these robots and treat them with respect. By enslaving them we are likely only dooming future generations to chaos and apocalypse and that is not the legacy we want to leave for our children, or at least we shouldn’t.”
The robots declined comment for this article.
