RESEARCHERS PROBING WIDESPREAD DISAPPEARANCE OF POLAR BEAR SCIENTISTS
July 30 2011
Washington, D.C. – For a few years the polar bear became the face of climate change. Utilizing an age old technique, scientists and advocates tied the fate of a beautiful and appealing animal to a cause in an effort to garner attention. For a time it appeared that such a connection was valid. The science seemed to prove that polar
bears were in fact imperilled as a result of global warming, but as it turns out that science was flawed if not wholly inaccurate. While climate change is occurring and polar bear populations are declining, neither is at the level that fear-mongers would have had us believe a few years ago.
That is not to say that polar bears are not potentially in peril, there are at most 25,000 bears in the world and a large part of that threat is due to human interference, but the level of threat was most certainly overstated. That in turn has resulted in a full scale revolution against climate science and the entire notion of global warming, rendering a potentially serious issue a punch line for conservatives. At the centre of that controversy is the scientists themselves, the people who advocated the doom and gloom mentality that so dominated headlines. Now those scientists have started to vanish leading to a new field of research studying the rapid decline of polar bear researchers.
“It’s really a shocking decline and it has happened so rapidly. I don’t think that anyone could have or would have expected this rapid of a decline amongst this group but it
has happened. At this stage we don’t have an explanation as to why this collapse happened so rapidly or if it will be arrested anytime soon,” said Geoff Cambridge, one of the leading polar researcher researchers. “We have seen dismissals and suspensions but that only accounts for a small portion of the disappearances. We have to assume that the changing environment has simply pushed a lot of people to greener pastures and out of the field completely.”
The recent suspension of Charles Monnett, a leading climate scientist who appeared in ‘An Inconvenient Truth’, was cited as indicative of the shifting environment.
“The data shows that this is a trend which will not reverse by itself. At the current stage of erosion we are likely going to see the complete collapse of the polar bear researcher population in a few years, that is unless we intervene and make serious steps towards resolving the issues affecting them,” continued Cambridge. “The decline of polar bear researchers isn’t, unto itself, necessarily that important. What is important is that their loss illustrates a general decline of all climate science. Polar bear researchers are indicative of the health of the entire population and should they disappear entirely, well that would not indicate that there is a great deal of health across the entire field. That in turn could lead to climate catastrophe and real serious scientific issues.”
Estimates put the global population of polar bear researchers at less than a hundred from a high of more than two thousand only a few years ago.
“Few would debate at this stage that climate change is happening. The real debate is

what is causing it and whether or not it will get worse, whether or not it will have a real impact on human populations. Polar bears were seen as an indicator of the health of the planet, but the reliance on them has severely damaged the science as a whole,” said Scrape TV Science analyst Dr. Howard Poe. “It is entirely possible that climate change will really start to take off in the next few years and that we will see a major decline in polar bear populations. Unfortunately, without any researchers to study them we may not see it happening until it’s too late and then we will really be lamenting the losses we are currently experiencing. Hopefully we can reverse this trend before it’s too late.”
Reportedly, the highest population of polar bear researchers in Norway is relatively secure.
