SUN BEGINS ASSAULT ON EARTH AND HUMANKIND BUT WE WILL NOT BE BOWED
January 24 2012
Washington, D.C. – The Sun is the source of all life on planet Earth and, eventually, it will cause the end of all that it created. One day, billions of years from now, the Sun will begin its death cycle, expanding to within a few thousand kilometres of our planet, burning everything still remaining on the surface away. The sun will then contract and no longer give off any solar energy, leaving our planet a cold, dead rock in space.
That will happen, no two ways about it. Human beings, or some version of human beings, may be around when that happens but they will be unable to stop the process. Stars, like everything, are mortal. The Sun will die and it will take our home with it when it goes no matter how hard we try to prevent that from happening.
Now, it appears, the Sun has already started that assault by launching plumes of charged plasma hurtling towards us, slamming into our atmosphere. This time the assault will likely be nominal, something we will certainly be able to withstand, but future such attacks may not be so docile and this could very well just be the start of an aggressive series of attacks determined to wipe out humanity forever.
“Our simulations show potential to pack a good punch to Earth’s near-space environment. But we’re not looking at an extreme event here,” said NASA’s Antti Pulkkinen. “It’s more of a glancing blow.”
The front edge of the burst hit Earth on Sunday, causing a slight disruption to satellites and other forms of communication.
The Sun is full of such plasma, meaning that it will not run out anytime soon, leaving us at risk for as long as it remains aggressive towards us.
“The universe is a dangerous place and we have been lucky, very lucky, to have avoided much of that danger for such a long time. It’s really a great thing, very comforting that we have been so removed from all these dangerous things and events throughout the Universe. We are very lucky indeed, but luck doesn’t last forever,” said Scrape TV Science analyst Dr. Howard Poe. “Things will change and not necessarily for the better. Eventually Earth will die, our hope is that we have moved beyond by then but we just don’t know at this stage.”
It’s not clear exactly why the sun is so determined to wipe us out, but some have theories.
“It could well be that the Sun is just angry. All we have done is take from it and never, not even once, given back. We owe everything to the Sun and we have done nothing for it. It’s very easy to see how it could have become bitter and hostile as a result of that type of treatment,” continued Poe. “And now it may be too late to do anything to salve that hurt and bitterness. Human beings have been more than capable of giving back for years but we choose not to, just to keep taking, and that has to really sting. It’s bad that we have done this, treated the Sun this way, and perhaps we are only getting what comes to us but I think we aren’t ready to give up the fight quite yet.”
The Sun, for obvious reason, had no comment.
