TIGER WOODS INCONSOLABLE AFTER BEING BOOED AT CAL-STANFORD GAME

November 27 2009

Berkley, CA – Professional sports have long been a profession of fame. Some athletes become huge names in the town they play in, some only in the town they came from, but a few, a very rare few, become much bigger than that. Names such as tiger woods elin woods
Joe Montana, Wayne Gretzky, Joe DiMaggio, and Michael Jordan are just a few of those that have not only reached all corners of the globe, but also in many ways come to define the sport that made them famous. There is one name in professional sports that stands above all others though, Tiger Woods.

It isn’t just that Golf is such a large sport worldwide, or that Woods is undeniably the most dominant player to ever set foot on a course, Woods represents something much more for many people and that has propelled him to heights of popularity normally reserved for Presidents and movie stars. That popularity has in turn provided Woods with an almost charmed life; a beautiful wife and family, incredible success in his chosen field, and hundreds of millions of dollars in sponsorship deals. It hasn’t, though, made Woods immune to criticism or the hurt feelings that inevitably come as the result of rejection.

Such was the case on Saturday when Woods took the field at halftime of the Cal-Stanford game. Being honoured, Woods began to make a short speech when he was interrupted by a chorus of boos from Cal fans. Woods, a Stanford alum, appeared shaken at first but recovered enough to finish his speech tiger woods sad
and declare victory for his home school, something which did not come to fruition. All of that helped to cast a pall over Tiger’s night and has apparently left him shaken. The incident is further haunting him due to its sudden appearance on YouTube, his embarrassment available to millions to pore over and comment on. While its believed that he will eventually get over the incident, people around the star believe that he might have been irrevocably scarred by the incident.

“Tiger is a really sensitive guy and he is totally not used to this kind of reception. For other people being booed constantly might not be that big a deal but he has no immunity to such a reaction. It’s really a hard thing for him and it’s causing serious issues. He’ll get over it eventually but it will take a long time,” said a insider close to Woods. “He even said to me that he didn’t understand what the noise was at first and then he suddenly realized it. After he got off the field he was almost in tears but he kept it together because he had his daughter with him. If she hadn’t been there he likely would have broken down completely.”

Woods has apparently only left the house once since the incident. He apparently moped around the supermarket with his wife who promptly took him home.tiger woods sad

“If there is anyone who would have a problem adjusting to this kind of thing it would be Tiger Woods. True, he has endured criticism before particularly when injured, but much of that has been soft and really more concerned with his well being than actually questioning him or his sportsmanship. This whole incident must have been devastating for him especially coming on a night which really should have been about honouring him. It’s really sad that he won’t have this moment back,” said Scrape TV Sports analyst Mark Marvins. “I mean he’s had all kinds of success in life but he’s still a human being and things like this hurt him just like they would hurt anyone else. Of course, he was wearing red during big game week so maybe it is his own fault. Nonetheless, your heart has to go out to him.”

It’s not clear when or if Tiger will return to the links.
