CLEVELAND FINALLY CLOSES ITS DOORS AFTER LEBRON JUMPS TO MIAMI

July 9 2010

Cleveland, OH – Cleveland was one of the earliest cities established in the young country of the United States. Though others existed before the union was formed, Cleveland was one of the first major signposts to be created after the country freed lebron james cleveland cavaliers
itself from the British. For a number of years the city flourished as a shipping port, situated perfectly on the Ohio River, and garnering most of its success from the transport hub for raw materials such as coal and iron ore.

The good times didn’t last though and eventually the city fell on hard times. In the 1970’s the city became the first in the country to default on its loans since the great depression, a fire in 1969 set the Cuyahoga River on fire, and crime, both organized and unorganized, ran rampant on the streets. However efforts to recover from those crisis times were largely successful and through the 1980’s and 90’s the city began to put things straight again, modernizing and creating major tourist attractions such as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Certain areas of the city were still beset by many issues but all in all things were pretty good, until the arrival of LeBron James in 2003 which shifted the economic and social focus of the city to the hard court. Now with James’ departure for sunnier climes the city has once again fallen, and this time there may be no returning as businesses and government office around the city begin to shutter their doors and windows.cleveland

“Obviously we are all upset at LeBron leaving, we felt that the Cavaliers had a great chance at being a success and he had a great opportunity to lead them to a championship but now all of that is lost and we are stuck with the Cavs of old,” said city spokesperson Dwight Waters. “We have already noticed a major change throughout the city, not just in the mood of the people but also in the cash flow. A number of stores are no boarded up and we have closed a handful of government offices for security reasons. Pretty soon we may all be moving out.”

Though James has not officially signed with the Miami Heat he has agreed in principle and will not be returning to his home town team.burnt out house

“It makes sense, it makes total sense and I’m sure the people of Cleveland understand that but that doesn’t mean it hurts any less. He’s an Ohio boy and the best player in the league so of course it hurts that he’s gone and because he was such an important part of the economy the loss will be more than just emotional,” said Scrape TV Sports analyst Mark Marvins. “Much of the economic structure of the city was based around him and his extraction means a massive void that will never be filled. The team will fall from championship contender to an also ran immediately, if they even stick around.”

There have been reports of sporadic rioting throughout the streets but thus far nothing that can’t be handled.cuyahoga river fire

“They still have a number of things going for them as a city and even as a sports Mecca but this is more than a huge blow, this is catastrophic even if they all knew it was coming. I wouldn’t be surprised if we started to see the kind of trouble that occurred in the sixties and this time there will likely be no coming back,” continued Marvins. “The good news for LeBron is that he will be out of the city and soaking up the rays in Miami. He won’t have to be in the city as it tears itself apart and burns to the ground. It’s always a good day when you aren’t in Cleveland but when things start to fall apart everyone will be happy they are far away.”

In nearby Akron, James birthplace, two arson attempts on his former high school were foiled before any major damage was caused.
