KURT ANGLE TO FIGHT DWI CHARGE IN THE SQUARED CIRCLE

Los Angeles, CA – Substance abuse amongst wrestlers is nothing new. One could argue that it’s actually more common than headlocks and body slams. For whatever reason, the sport has always had a problem with addiction, a problem that has led to more than a few early and tragic deaths.
The one person most people assumed would stay away from such temptations is Kurt Angle. True, he is a professional wrestler but before that, he was an Olympic athlete, a gold medal winner in fact. In a world dominated by strange and eccentric characters, Angle was Mr. America, clean cut and nearly perfect. However, a DWI charge on the weekend has now taken away some of that lustre.
Angle was stopped by police in Virginia after a state trooper spotted him swerving across the road and though he tested negative in a breathalyser test, was still charge with drunk driving. Now Angle is disputing those charges and willing to step into the wrestling ring with the trooper, the judge and, if necessary, the entire state if Virginia to prove his innocence.
“Things happen but Kurt is innocent. The breathalyser proves he is innocent. It is totally senseless to just take a single trooper’s word on this. He will be victorious, there is no other option,” said an Angle insider. “Kurt has faced bigger challenges than this in the past and we will face this one. There is nothing that can stand in his way. If they want to press him, if they want to push him, he will answer just as he has always done.”
Angle was also accused of being drunk in the locker room a few years ago, leading to a still-standing dispute with Samoa Joe.
“Sure Kurt enjoys a beer on occasion, but has never been too drunk to drive. These accusations are nonsense and he will challenge anyone who repeats them. He will take them on anywhere anytime. There isn’t a man in the world that Kurt Angle is scared of,” continued the insider. “He will prove himself against this challenge just as he has done time and time before. There is nothing that will stop him from proving his innocence and making them all look like fools inside the squared circle.”
Angle left Virginia shortly afterwards but vowed to return. He has an arraignment next week.
“Legally in Virginia showing signs of intoxication are enough for charges. Tests are really there to provide evidence but there is no solid measure of drunkenness. There 
are a lot of factors which can impact blood alcohol levels in tests but have no impact on one’s ability to operate heavy machinery. The breathalyser is not evidence alone,” said Scrape TV Legal analyst Gabe Hawthorne. “That will make it tough for Angle to prove his innocence in court. His celebrity status may actually work against him. I’m sure they would like to use him as an example and so they may go after him. Hopefully he takes his punishment responsibly and doesn’t show up to court in tights and start body slamming the prosecutors. That type of thing generally doesn’t go over well in court situations nowadays.”
Angle reportedly had a beer to relax after his release.
