MICHAEL JORDAN SILENT IN NBA LABOUR TALKS, PLAYING WITH TOY CARS
October 14 2011
New York, NY – The ongoing labour dispute in the NBA has shown no signs of slowing, not even a little bit, not even after the league made the decision to cancel the first two weeks of the season. With things at a complete stalemate already many players are looking to Europe and Asia to play for the season, many just assuming that the season will be cancelled, and quite sensibly so.
Unlike the recent labour issues in the NFL, neither side appears to even be willing to talk with one another. The players and team owners are far apart on the issues and, ironically, the longer the stalemate continues the more significant those issues will become. As other sports have learned, cancelling a season can destroy the economy of the league.
Unfortunately, neither side is being helped by the one person many believe could actually help broker a deal, the 800-pound Bull that simply isn’t in the room. Michael Jordan, the greatest player of all time and current owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, is nowhere to be seen in the talks despite multiple requests from both sides. Far from the noise, Jordan it is believed is stowed away safely at home playing with his toy cars and making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches rather than become involved in complex discussions with other people.
“MJ is happy right now. I mean he wants to have the season go ahead because he likes to watch the games, but otherwise he is happy. He has been involved in the discussions a little bit, he is an owner, but hasn’t been present at the meetings. He decided to stay out when both sides agreed that he wouldn’t be able to bring his train

set into the offices,” said an NBA insider. “They just felt it was inappropriate and distracting. Other players would want to play with it and he can’t stop making sounds, choo-choo and whistles and that is just not conducive to successful labour negotiations.”
Jordan did apparently show up to a meeting with his train set but was told he could not bring it in. He stormed off and went gambling in Atlantic City before returning home.
“I’m sure things will be different when the time for the season to start comes and goes and there is no basketball on TV. He doesn’t watch it very much anymore, but he really loves to listen to the broadcasters. They make him laugh,” continued the insider. “I would imagine he will be mad when that isn’t around but it really is his doing. There were very few restrictions the league put on him but he wasn’t willing to deal with them. This whole thing might be his fault.”
Jordan also apparently wanted sugar sandwiches, on white bread, with no crusts for everyone. Neither side was particularly about only drinking lemonade either.
“Hopefully they can work a deal without Jordan. I mean he will have to vote on it but he is always eager to throw his hand up as long as they make it seem like a game. He will vote yes no matter what I think,” continued the insider. “But getting to that point is something else entirely. If he were here, like fully here, things might be able to move forward but as things are he is just a distraction and that is the last thing either side needs in this situation right now.”
Jordan has been seen outside his home in recent days, owing to the good weather in North Carolina and a new bucket and shovel he recently received.
