MICHAEL VICK READY TO BE A DOG OWNER AGAIN

Philadelphia, PA – For everyone there are periods of time that we would like to forget. Not so much the times or the occurrence, but the pain associated with those times. For some of us those periods are huge swathes of time, years that would be 
easier left in the past but for whatever reason are stuck foremost in our memories. Bad times tend to have that effect, they stay with us well beyond the time they are welcome, drowning out the good times that should have taken their place.
For Michael Vick that time is undoubtedly most of 2007. That was the year that forever changed his life for the good and the bad. The uncover of his secret dog fighting ring and the subsequent incarceration, financial ruin, and nationwide embarrassment all began that year, a series of events with which Vick is still dealing, something that will likely cast a shadow over his life forever. While Vick’s tale is still being told, from star to chump to star again, it is perhaps the personal change in the man that is most important, the 
thing that above all else that will define him for his own sake. While Vick has certainly come a long way in redeeming himself to the public, it is his personal healing that is of utmost importance, healing that has reached a new level now that he apparently feels ready to forgive dogs and become an owner once again.
“I would love to get another dog in the future. I think it would be a big step for me in the rehabilitation process. I think just to have a pet in my household and to show people that I genuinely care, and my love, and my passion for animals,” Vick told thegrio. “I hate to use our culture as an excuse, but it is what it is and that's what happened and that's the way I thought about it growing up. This is just the way we were brought up. Without going to prison I would have never changed as an individual and as a person. And coming out of prison I was a totally different person.”
Vick is currently prohibited from owning any animals.
“This may very well be one of those rare stories where someone commits a crime and not only rehabilitates himself but actually becomes a better person as a result of those events. Often criminals simply work to get past their issues and not get in anymore trouble, but Vick seems eager to actually be a better person and that is rare,” said Scrape TV Crime analyst Willard Weston. “So many criminals simply try to avoid getting into more trouble but Vick seems a changed man. There is no better evidence of that than in his willingness to once again start to own pets, specifically dogs, the very animals that took so much away from him.”
Most of the dogs in Vick’s fighting ring were pit bull terriers but it is not clear what animals he is seeking to own.
“Very often people will see the source of the crime, the temptation, as the cause of the issue and seek to actively destroy it. These animals brought him to this point, brought the temptation and forced him to fight them over and over again, and so it would make sense if he was angry with them, but he apparently not,” continued Weston. “Hopefully someday in the future he will be able to embrace these animals again, to bring them fully back into his life. Who knows, perhaps one day he’ll be able to build up a huge collection of dogs and they can all play together on his property.”
It’s believed unlikely Vick will get poodles.
