MIKE MCQUEARY SAYS HE DIDN’T ENJOY WATCHING JERRY SANDUSKY RAPE THAT BOY

University Park, PA – With all the attention being paid to Jerry Sandusky and Joe Paterno, little has actually been made of the third man at the heart of the controversy. In the beginning, Mike McQueary quite rightly garnered a lot of attention, attention which has largely diminished in the last few weeks. He is, after all, not the criminal and not revered. It is McQueary, though, at whose feet much of the blame can be laid.
McQueary did, after all, witness the sex assault that sparked the controversy. His decision to bring it to school authorities, rather than real authorities, and then ignore it when nothing happened enabled Sandusky to continue to abuse children. While he did not abuse the children himself, his lack of effort resulted in a lot more children being abused, making him in many ways just as guilty.
Now McQueary is back in the spotlight, taking the stand in a preliminary hearing in the beginning stages of what is sure to be a blockbuster trial. McQueary detailed what he saw that day back in 2002, including both Sandusky and the boy staring him straight in the eye, and the limited actions he took afterwards. McQueary also said that he didn’t enjoy watching Sandusky raping that little boy, though watched until it was over.
“I know they saw me. They looked directly in my eye, both of them. Seeing that they were separated, I thought it was best that I leave the locker room,” said McQueary under oath.
He also explained that he went to Paterno to tell him what he had witnessed, and later to Vice President Gary Schultz. He didn’t explain why he didn’t pursue the case any further after that.
McQueary has insisted on numerous occasions that he did not enjoy witnessing the incident, something he reiterated under oath, swearing up and down that he didn’t like watching.
“In cases like this, well let’s be frank, there aren’t many cases like this. Generally when a person witnesses a grown man sexually abusing a child in a public place they do something about it. Attack the abuser or at least go to the police. Going to campus police is just not the same thing, they aren’t real police,” said Scrape TV Legal analyst Gabe Hawthorne. “I know McQueary thinks he didn’t do anything wrong, but that is totally incorrect. If he had stopped that incident, if he had told the real police, if he had gone to the papers, and was thwarted at every opportunity then he could claim that but that isn’t what he did. He stood and watched and then did nothing, not a great legal defence.”
McQueary also stated that he made a coughing noise and shuffled his feet to try and distract Sandusky, though it’s not clear if that could be heard over the sound of slapping skin and cries of pain.
“It’s great that he didn’t mean to walk in on them, and it’s great that he didn’t enjoy watching, but that doesn’t make him any less vulnerable legally. Not enjoying a crime doesn’t make you free from prosecution. If that were the case no one would be in jail, well mostly no one. Sandusky certainly would be headed there,” continued Hawthorne. “It’s good that he’s willing to speak up now that he’s been caught and everything is exposed, but so much more could have been done if he had stopped watching sooner and told people, told everyone he could. He may not have enjoyed watching, no matter how long he stood there watching every movement, every thrust, but holding the high moral ground doesn’t work in court generally. He’s just as guilty. Well, not AS guilty, but still pretty guilty and he is going to pay for that.”
McQueary has said that he also doesn’t enjoying watching anal rape with adults either, something he hopes will help keep him out of prison.
