ROY HALLADAY ENJOYS GROUP SHOWER AFTER THROWING PERFECT GAME

Miami, FL – Perfection is something many people seek but very few ever achieve. Excellence is certainly a different story, but perfection for many remains the goal. There are few places where that is more the case than in sport. Athletes by their very

design strive to be better and better which inevitably pushes them to seek perfection. Of course very few achieve even small moments that can accurately be called ‘perfect’ but every now and then the stars align and everything just works.
Such was the case for Philadelphia Phillies ace pitcher Roy Halladay who on Saturday threw a perfect game, only the 20th in the history of the sport. The dream of every pitcher, the perfect game (27 batters up, 27 batters down) is one of, if not the most, difficult to accomplish feats in all of sport. For Halladay, a six time All-Star and Cy Young award winner, it is the culmination of a dream that began in the mundane surroundings of Arvada, Colorado. Still enjoying the high of that great accomplishment, and ensuring his place in baseball history, Halladay reportedly enjoyed the night with his teammates in one of the longest group showers in MLB history.
“It’s still so surreal. I don’t feel like it’s happened and I don’t know if I ever will. This is

what all pitchers dream of doing and so few ever even come close. I feel lucky and privileged to be given this opportunity and to have such a great team of guys around me. Without them none of this would have happened,” said Halladay on Sunday. “There really aren’t any words to describe this feeling. May one day I will be able to sort of integrate this into my experience but for now it’s just a huge high. I’ve never spent that long in any shower and I just feel so refreshed. I’m so glad that the guys were able to be there with me through the whole thing. This is what team is all about.”
Reportedly the showers began to run cold by the time the players left.
“Throwing a perfect game is something really special. There really isn’t any kind of analogue in any other sport and so for the people that accomplish this more than formidable feat it really is something to celebrate. This adds just one more notch the great career that Halladay has had and adds to the argument that may put him in the Hall of Fame,” said Scrape TV Sports analyst Mark Marvins. “It’s quite right then that he enjoys this accomplishment. Family, friends, and teammates are exactly what he should have around him and it appears that is exactly what he has. Whatever else the season brings, they all have this moment. No matter the shower and no matter the city they will always have May 29th in Miami to look to.”
The last perfect game was only a few weeks ago by Oakland Athletics pitcher Dallas Braeden. There was no warm water for showers after the game.
“I can only imagine the atmosphere in the locker room after the game. Jubilation is probably not even the right word. All those muscled men standing in the steaming shower, whipping each other with towels and rubbing themselves all over with soap, that’s what baseball is all about,” continued Marvins. “This is a moment not just for Halladay but for everyone involved with the team. All of those players will remember the day they spent all those hours in the shower getting all nice and clean and just enjoying the company of their teammates. Congratulations to all involved.”
Halladay reportedly uses Nivea Touch of Water Lily body wash, earning him much teasing from his teammates.
