UFC CHIEF DANA WHITE SCARED TO FIGHT GIRLS

January 22 2011

Las Vegas, NV – Equality between the genders has certainly come a long way in the last century or so. From suffrage movement to women’s lib, the rise of the woman has been perhaps one of the most remarkable and rapid of all social renovations in the suffrage
history of human beings. Inequality still exists in many areas, certainly, but all in all the two genders are no closer to equality than ever before. There are, however, certain areas where men and women will never be equal no matter how sophisticated society becomes.

Aside from base biological differences, such as the ability to have children, the physical differences between the genders inevitably create gaps in both ability and in the social mores that govern interactions. A woman, for example, will never be the middle linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers, or priests. The simple reality is that there are major differences between the two genders, differences that despite all our social advances will never be fully overcome because of the physical abilities of the two genders. That, in turn, means that there will always be social conventions that affect the way the two genders interact, and one area that has never changed and is not likely to change is in the realm of violence. While women can certainlydana white ufc be strong, violence by men towards woman is
very much a no-no, something UFC CEO Dana White apparently respects very thoroughly by not allowing women to fight in his organization.

“Never, never,” White recently told TMZ when asked when women will be seen in the UFC, something reiterated over and over again by the organization. Rival league ‘Strikeforce’ does have female fighters, including superstar Gina Carano, but all fight in a separate women’s division.

“In fighting oriented sports like UFC, boxing, and even Wrestling there has long been a history of female fighters. Unfortunately those divisions haven’t been the most popular and have, gina carano
frankly, been little more than a sideshow to the main attraction, even for women. The harsh reality is that people want to see the biggest and best fight and that is always men. Fights unto themselves are a freak show, and people always want to see the
biggest monsters doing battle,” said Scrape TV Sports analyst Mark Marvins. “As far as the UFC goes I don’t think it is explicitly a sexist thing, perhaps not even absently. They are in a business and if the business doesn’t demand a certain product, the people running it won’t provide it. Nothing else would make sense, they aren’t running a charity after all. They will run with whatever product sells and whatever benefits their brand. UFC is very much a guys league, and that means no girls allowed, fair or not.”

Founded in 1993, UFC has come to dominate the mixed martial arts field in recent years.ufc ring girl

“Of course there very well could be other factors in this. Dana White is himself not a fighter but he is in touch with the mentality of a lot of those guys. In many ways he is the perfect spokesperson for the company because of that, meaning that he knows what goes on in their heads. He knows that if the female side of the sport became popular there would be a lot more chicks in the crowd an inevitably they would want to see an equal fight, and that would end up badly no matter what happened,” continued Marvins. “Either the male would beat the woman to a pulp, which would look bad, or the girl would beat the guy. That is more than likely the real nightmare scenario. The loss of support if one of the big tough guys got beat by a girl would pretty much spell the end of the UFC and that above everything else is something they don’t want.”

White is married and apparently generally loses fights with his wife.
