VLADIMIR PUTIN’S MMA AMBITIONS ON HOLD AFTER FROSTY RECEPTION

Moscow, Russia – Being the leader, past and future, of Russia is no small feat. Arguably, Russia has been the most formidable and stalwart of nations on the planet, existing as one of the most influential nations for nearly 900 years. The country will 
always need a leader of course, and like all nations, sometimes it gets exactly the leader it needs.
For the last decade, that leader has been Vladimir Putin. The cold war leftover has helped shepherd the nation from economic despair to greatness once again and, come this time next year, will once again be fully in control of the nation, adding to his legend and the legend of his nation. Putin, as well, has become an icon outside of his leadership, a man of men, equally adept at just about anything he tries. Unfortunately, one field appears out of his grasp.
Following a successful bout with Russian Mixed Martial Arts champion Fedor Emelianenko against American Jeff Monson, Putin stepped to the stage and was greeted with catcalls and boos, a reception that will likely put an end to his own personal ambitions in the Octagon before he really had a chance to prove himself.
“It was actually very uncomfortable in the arena and very disappointing. As you know, the Prime Minister is an avid fan of MMA and is an accomplished Judo master himself. 
This was certainly not the type of reception he had expected and it may cause him to rethink his plans in this field,” said an insider with the Putin camp. “We have had troubles with popularity in recent months and we had all hoped that a stint in this popular sport might help better his situation, but now that has to be rethought. I can assure you that no one is more disappointed than the Prime Minister himself.”
Putin has become notorious for his displays of manliness in the past, however a recent revelation that a diving expedition in Greece was staged has started to erode his popularity.
Despite being 59-years old, many believed that Putin would likely have done well in MMA because of his excellent physical condition and the fact that he is the Prime Minister.
“This is a major blow. The type of erosion he has seen in his popularity is really
incredible and unheard of in Russian politics. After all, there isn’t really anyone else to vote for and his party generally gets the vast majority of the vote, but that may not be the case this time. He will win, of course, even if he didn’t get the vote but the popular opinion has to be playing on him,” said Scrape TV International analyst Gustav Hander. “More than that, this has to be a blow to his ego. Part of this is for public consumption but part of it is how he thinks of himself and if his confidence is shattered in this area it is likely that it will be shattered in other areas as well, which could hurt him in the long term. More importantly, he will never be able to prove himself against the best and that will likely leave him feeling a little incomplete, something being the leader of Russia just won’t salve.”
It’s likely that Putin’s extreme wealth and other manly accomplishments will help somewhat in soothing his pain.
