APPLE AMASSING ITS OWN ARMY IN SINGAPORE

June 29 2011

Singapore – There is no debate over Apple’s influence on popular culture and the tech industry. The success of Apple over the last decade has been one of the most remarkable in history, considering that surge came just a few years after the company apple logo
nearly collapsed. The last ten years has been something really special, taking the company from a consistent second banana to a monolith, a king overseeing a vast kingdom in which no one would dare challenge its authority.

Apple has made that success for themselves and fought to retain it through the decade. They have not rested comfortably on their laurels but instead innovated and evolved, leading the market rather than following it and in the process been able to crush competitors who never knew they were competing. Now, with little to accomplish in the tech realm, Apple has apparently started to move into the real world and started to become active in military actions around the world. The first stage of that new initiative is taking place in Singapore where the company is issuing upwards of 8000 iPads to the military of that country. Thus far it’s not clear what role the tablets will play in the military, nor what conflict Singapore may be prepping for, but it appears that whatever course politics in Asia might take Apple wants to be on the forefront.

“We have found that many of our young soldiers have a great deal of technical savvy when it comes to new devices, yet they are also very inexperienced in respect to many things that occur in the world. We feel this is in part to a focus on the technical aspects of technology rather than the content,” said a military spokesperson. “We feel singapore soldiers
that with the iPad that technology gap does not exist and people are free to access information without having to have a great deal of technical knowledge, which brings the information to the forefront. This is something we very much want our soldiers to have, a focus on information rather than on technology.”

It’s not clear how much the military paid for the devices, nor whether or not Apple had any further plans in Asia.

“I know they have always stayed ahead of the crowd in terms of technology, but there eventually comes a time when you have to think outside the box, really outside the box and do something no one has ever thought of before. That could very well be where they are heading with this move, or they could have other plans,” said Scrape TV Business analyst Ken Green. “Becoming a major military player in the region would give them a foothold should production issues ever occur. Remember that most of their physical production is done in Asia. If there are product shortages, price increases, or even labour issues that would reduce profits and obligate them to act, something they will be in prime position to do with a strong military presence in the region.”steve jobs intense

Most production of Apple products in done by Foxconn, a company based in Taiwan with facilities in mainland China.

“Obviously an army of 8000 Apple soldiers isn’t going to topple any government but it could make them think twice. That’s a lot of soldiers and a lot of passion. We all know how fervent Aple fans can be,” continued Green. “Of course this could also just be the beginning. This could just be a test. It is very possible they will expand their reach from here and eventually install military outposts throughout the region, which would ensure iPad production for many years to come, which of course is great news for investors.”

A call to Apple headquarters received a terse ‘you’d better stop asking questions’.
